Quang Hung reveals where he lived when he first started his career, shocking fans, joining Phan Manh Quynh

To achieve the success he has today, Quang Hung MasterD has gone through many difficulties and challenges, even sleeping rough because he had no mone.y to rent a room when he first came to Ho Chi Minh City to start his career.

At a time when the domestic music market was booming with young faces breaking out, Quang Hung MasterD was remembered for his easy-to-listen, easy-to-remember music with a hint of mischief. In Anh Trai Say Hi - a popular music show last year, he was chosen to be part of the all-round music group Best 5, alongside HIEUTHUHAI, Ryhder, Isaac and Duc Phuc.

The works that Quang Hung MasterD participated in producing and performing in the program all became hits, attracting tens of millions of listeners, showing strong potential for development. Few people know that before becoming a phenomenon and being loved by many people, the male singer was still an obscure name in the country, even though he had been in the music industry for nearly a decade and had been famous in Thailand for 5 years. Having gone through many difficult times, he never had the intention of giving up music.

At the ag.e of 18, Quang Hung passed the entrance exam to the Hue Academy of Music but after half a year of studying, he stopped to go to Ho Chi Minh City to start a career. His family was not well off and he was not yet famous, so the male singer applied to small entertainment companies to work and gain experience. There were many events where he and his crew only asked to perform without receiving any salary.

Quang Hung even spent many days wandering around, sleeping rough in the park because he couldn't pay rent. At that time, having a piano to compose on was a luxury dream for him. In 2019, the male singer started working at an artist management company, but after a few months, the place went bankrupt.

When the landlord called to demand mone.y, Quang Hung thought he could not stay in Ho Chi Minh City for long. Sad that he was about to return to his hometown and start from zero, he composed "Don't Cry Alone". At that time, the producer of a web drama contacted him and wanted to buy a song from the young man for a new movie.

Quang Hung sent "Don't Cry Alone" to this person and it was accepted. The mone.y from selling the song helped him stay in a foreign land for a while longer. A year later, the song "Easy Come, Easy Go" by the 9x suddenly became famous in Thailand.

Remembering that time, Quang Hung said he lost 2kg because of surprise, feeling so nauseous that he couldn’t eat or drink anything. He spent time trying to figure out the reason but couldn’t explain why Thai people liked the song. Later, some of his friends commented that the song’s melody reminded them of some Thai folk songs.

"Easy Come, Easy Go" helped Quang Hung's musical journey go more smoothly, becoming a favorite singer in the Land of the Golden Pagodas, welcomed by fans in this country. Not only that, this song is also famous in many Asian countries, with Chinese and several other languages. With the mone.y earned from the song, the Hue bo.y helped his family pay off debts due to business losses.

Ironically, when his career was taking off, Quang Hung learned that he had a nervous disorder. He felt tired, anxious, and had difficulty breathing when on stage, and was so frustrated in the studio that he had to be hospitalized. Doctors diagnosed the male singer with a form of mental illness, caused by staying at home making music too much and having little social contact.

So Quang Hung returned to Hue to recuperate for 10 days, taking all kinds of Chinese and Vietnamese medicine but there was no improvement. Feeling restless, he went back to the South, using music as a "medicine" to cure his illness. Up to now, the 9x has improved about 80% of his health condition.

At the ag.e of 28, Quang Hung MasterD no longer has financial pressure. Before, he only had two or three shows a month, but now he "runs" up to 20 shows. Once nicknamed "stepchild" because he was famous in Thailand but had no fans in the country, he is now an idol with a fanclub of more than 80,000 members on Facebook.

Not only that, Quang Hung is also ranked in the list of most favorite musicians of 2024 along with Phan Manh Quynh, Tang Duy Tan, Bui Cong Nam, Hua Kim Tuyen, thanks to many impressive compositions that touch the hearts of listeners.

The biggest goal at the moment for the singer born in 1997 is to release an album and hold his own concert. He said: "I fear stereotypes in music the most, so I always want to renew myself every day."
