Up to now, artist Phuong Binh still lives with his family and his eldest son and continues to work in art. He said that in his spare time, he still stays at home to take care of his grandchildren. Although "settling down" at a young age, the audience is secretly happy that he has overcome the difficult period to firmly step into the profession.

Phuong Binh has been in the profession for 30 years now, perhaps, TV viewers are too familiar with his face in hundreds of TV series, sitcoms, comedy skits but ... until now more than 50 years old, he still cannot. become a star, while classmates like Phuoc Sang are famous since... no life.

Maybe in part because he never got to play the main role but only specialized in supporting roles. And the reason he gave was "I'm ugly, I want to die, who should let me play the main character".

Perhaps, the Ancestral Society challenged his passion for art. Because if not passionate, Phuong Binh would surely have quit his job a long time ago, not hiding from his wife to Saigon, accepting to stay at home for twenty years, working hard to make a living with each role.

Living away from his wife and children for many years, tormented by letting his children almost go blind

Actor Phuong Binh and his wife got married in the 90s, so far it has been 29 years. Talking about the chance to meet, he said: "My wife and I have been close friends since 8th grade. The two of us studied together until the end of high school. In Saigon, I attended Theater School, she studied General Literature. Living far away from home, the two of them have been close since childhood, so they develop feelings when it is not good.

At first, her family was also very against because they did not like me to do this job. The ancients had the notion that artists were romantic, flying butterflies would be promiscuous. They are afraid of poor girls. I'm just trying to prove that not everyone is like that. She also "fought" fiercely to protect our love.

Although his wife's parents are powerful, they are simple and sincere, still raising and producing. Every summer when I return to my hometown, I go to the outhouse to feed the pigs and wash the pigsty because the children are still young. He was trusted by his grandparents, so he gave his daughter to him.

After the wedding, I worked at the provincial television station. After 2 years, I miss my job too much. In my hometown, I still participate in cultural programs, but I can't get rid of it. I asked my wife to let me go back to Saigon to work. Of course she wouldn't. In 1994, I escaped. The couple has lived apart ever since."

Because of the nature of his job, he often has to leave home to go to Ho Chi Minh City, while his wife works in the province. After the child was born, he did not have time to be close to and take care of him. He and his wife live more than 200 kilometers apart.

He once confided that in the past, because there was no means of communication, if he wanted to ask about each other, he and his wife had to send a letter.

He confided in the program What Dads Say: "Every time I want to visit my wife and children, I only come back when there is no free show. At that time, there was a lot of free time without a show. Even though I had a lot of free time. But there are times when I don't have money to buy a bus ticket to visit my wife, I have to stay here. I have to save up, I have money to run back to visit. When the child was born, I missed it so much. I come back to visit him but I don't have money. Every time I stay at the inn, when I miss my son lying down, I cry, but because of the circumstances, I have to bear it."

The actor also talked about a memorable memory. When he was born, his baby had an eye infection. After two or three days, his eyes still wouldn't open. When he was held in the sun, pus gushed out. He took him straight to the eye hospital, the doctor once said his family was lucky because it only took 5 hours for the child to lose sight. He said, at that time, the hospital was closed at 9 pm, but he had just finished the performance at 11 pm, so he had to carry his child to climb the fence.

Also because they are far away from their children for a long time, they have not seen each other for a long time, they do not remember, they do not give them their hands. He had to be patient at home to let his children get used to the steam, buy milk, buy cakes to "seduce", when the children got used to it, he went again. This makes him regret not being able to follow his child's growing up journey.

He choked: "Actually, the husband and wife have been married for 28 years, but when the couple sleeps together, it's probably only for nearly 3 years. Sometimes I only come back once a month or 2 months, sometimes I get it. Films only take 3 or 4 months to complete. When they come back for about 2 or 3 days, they will continue. About a few years ago, in the heyday of the comedy stage, they only came back about 2 or 3 times a year."

Phuong Binh's wife also shared about sad times when her husband was away from work and had to take care of the children alone. She said that some people even thought they did not have a husband because they never saw Phuong Binh appear.

Reminding her husband, she expressed: "Husband must try to maintain health, about 6 months should also go for periodic health check-ups. Husband rarely cares about my health, now I have over 50 years old, her husband has stopped smoking. Finally, the wife wants her husband to pay more attention to her, especially when her husband comes home. Living in a rented house for 30 years, can't buy social housing until middle age

Although Phuong Binh has been active in the arts for a long time, he had to live in a rented house for many years. He said that he rented a house from the time he entered Ho Chi Minh City in 1994 until 2017 to buy an apartment in Binh Chanh for low-income people, in the form of installments.

He told about his artist life: "I'm not a star, so I don't get paid much. Rich artists can count on their fingers, but the audience only looks at those numbers and makes a general assessment. In fact, most artists have a difficult life. Anyone who can't steal or miser can still save some money, otherwise, they'll never have any money!"

Talking about the house that he bought, Phuong Binh confided in a talk show with NS Trung Dan that he wished to buy an apartment even though it was sparse at that time and had a small population. At the time of purchase, he had to deposit 10 million dong, but only had 5 million dong in his pocket, and still had to wait for the movie to be finished to pay. At that time, the broker asked: "Is the artist so poor, Mr. Binh?"

Fortunately, because he received favors from investors because they liked his roles, buying a house was easier, but anyway, buying a house was a huge concern for him. He confided: "The 30% deposit alone is too big for me. If I borrow money, my mother's interest will be on my child's interest, and in the future, I may even lose my money.

The bad thing is the 15 year installment house. I was 51 years old when I bought a house, only 9 years left until the end of working age. They advised me to put my son in the name of the house, and I was the support person. I like to joke, I pay monthly, but I don't have the right to that house because of my child's name.
