A series of photos of a foreign man holding a votive horse at the airport has caused Vietnamese netizens to stir up discussion with many interesting theories. So what's the situation behind it?
Vietnam is a country that many tourists around the world are interested in and love. Not only attracted by the beautiful and rich landscapes, our country is also famous for its bold Asian culture, and unique traditional craft villages.
Western tourists after visiting Vietnam will often buy souvenirs such as hats, flag-printed shirts, ao dai, traditional fabrics or some local fruit cakes to give to their friends and relatives.
However, recently, the image of a Western man holding a votive horse as a gift appeared at the airport, causing Vietnamese netizens to be surprised and bewildered. This is considered a gift of 1 - 0 - 2 - no one has thought of.
A series of photos of Mr. Tay with a large suitcase, waiting to check in at the airport; Hugging the votive horse was humorously explained by the people: "When you come to Hanoi to play and promise to buy souvenirs for your daughter." This photo is currently very popular all over social media forums.
Accordingly, although the truth of the story is unknown, the way the foreign guest carefully hugged the horse made many people excited, competing to guess how the recipient of the gift would react.
According to research, actually, there are no "girls" here. The man in the viral photo series has been identified as a French blogger and architect currently living in Mexico - Arnaud Zein El Din. Arnaud bought the votive horse and other items from Hanoi to collect, not donate.
It is known that he has traveled "backpacking" in Hanoi for 3 weeks, wandering in the Old Quarter, diving into the Red River, hiking in the middle beach, taking photos and enjoying the Hanoi summer air. Before leaving, he saw the votive horse and decided to buy it without knowing its spiritual meaning. However, he said he had dimly guessed that the horse was an item used in some kind of ritual.
After bringing the red paper horse and luggage to Noi Bai airport, he caught the camera lens of curious people and attracted a certain amount of attention. Although this votive horse managed to slip through the check-in counter and security gate, unfortunately it had to stop at the plane door.
Reportedly, the crew refused to transport the votive horse that Mr. Arnaud had. And he had to leave the horse at the airport. After attracting reluctant attention, this blogger learned how Vietnamese people use paper horses and found this culture interesting.
The end of the story about Mr. Tay and the votive horse immediately made netizens excited and chattered. Netizen's biggest question is why the crew turned down this portable item. Some people also feel sorry for Arnaud because his Hanoi collection is missing a good item with Vietnamese culture.
Many comments left humorous comments about the blogger's story: "What's wrong with people taking it away? The votive horses had no iron or steel or dangerous sharp objects, and airport security gave them away and entered the plane was denied"; "Horses can't go abroad! It's a pity."
"From a spiritual point of view, the squadron dared not put steeds on it!"; "Horses don't have tickets, don't get on planes!"; "Sorry for Mr. West. Such a Vietnamese item...".
Although he could not bring home the paper "steed", it can be seen that this Western guest has made countless good memories in Vietnam. Specifically, he has taken many beautiful photos in Hanoi, as well as enjoyed many very personal feelings here.
Hanoi for him has a very personal character, very simple and poetic. A friend asked if he had "fallen in love" with Hanoi, to which he did not hesitate to reply: "Yes, she has all sorts of things that make me fall in love!"
