Meritorious Artist Vu Xuan Trang was born in 1978 in a family with a tradition of artistic activities in many fields from painting, opera, dance, reformed theater to theater.

Meritorious Artist Vu Xuan Trang's grandfather is theater painter Vu Van Minh. Her grandmother is opera artist Nguyen Thi Sinh. His father is a famous Southern Cai Luong actor - Meritorious Artist Minh Chau, and his mother is Cai Luong artist Thanh Xuan.

Growing up in the cradle of art, Meritorious Artist Vu Xuan Trang soon fell in love with the stage. His first role was at the age of 10, playing the role of artist Hoang Hai's child in the play "Love and the Bandit" staged by Tran Huu Trang Theater.

Even though she was only a substitute for one performance, Vu Xuan Trang caught the "sight" of artist Doan Ba when he produced the play "Hon Vong Phu", playing the role of a little girl named Tam. Back then, every troupe that released a new play performed at the Capital Theater, with 2 shows a day. Because he wanted his child to focus on studying, artist Thanh Xuan separated him from the stage.

Vu Xuan Trang's artistic path was also interrupted since then. Events struck Vu Xuan Trang when her mother passed away. That year, Vu Xuan Trang was in 8th grade. A year later, his father moved on, family life continued to have turmoil, difficulty after difficulty.

His father - Meritorious Artist Minh Chau had to sell the whole house on An Binh street while Vu Xuan Trang rushed out to make a living, now staying at a friend's house, tomorrow at his aunt's house, sometimes visiting an acquaintance's house.

While going to school, Vu Xuan Trang struggled with many jobs: selling soap and shampoo. On holidays, he followed his friend to the zoo to help serve food. At one time, he also worked as a shoe factory worker and transported construction materials.

It was like that until he was 18 years old, finished high school, and when faced with a career choice, Vu Xuan Trang felt helpless. Having a talent for painting, Vu Xuan Trang registered to enter the University of Architecture but failed both times.

His aunt, theater employee Tran Hung Dao, asked him to work as a ticket checker. Also from this job, Vu Xuan Trang was able to rekindle her passion and reignite the artistic blood that had flowed through her veins since birth.

He said: "At that time, the Tuoi Ngoc theater group rented the Tran Hung Dao theater to perform Sunday morning shows. After checking tickets, I went in to watch everyone perform and suddenly thought, why don't I continue my family's business and just keep flirting like this?" Doing this, tomorrow doing something else, having no future is not such a forte."

Thinking about it, Vu Xuan Trang applied for admission to the School of Theater and Cinema and officially followed in the family business.

Vu Xuan Trang has been a director since he was a student at the School of Theater and Cinema. Of the 10 class skits, he "had a hand" in staging 7 and 8.

At the end of 2001, while still a student, Vu Xuan Trang was assigned to the Hong Van theater stage. Even though he is one of the best students in the class and a member of a wealthy family, Vu Xuan Trang also rose from supporting roles, performing roles, and working as backstage.

Only later was he given the opportunity to play character roles and was recognized for his talent through many career awards from stage to screen.

Accordingly, we must mention the silver medal at the National Professional Drama Festival in Hai Phong in 2004 with the play "Between the two banks of smog"; Silver medal at the Professional Drama Theater Festival in Ho Chi Minh City with the play "Mother and Lover"; Gold medal for the role of Tham Kim in the play "Being a Prostitute"; Silver medal as Nghi Hach in "How many hands does a woman easily have"; Golden Kite Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in the movie "Brilliant Night".

Once he created his own performance in this type of role, Vu Xuan Trang turned to directing. "I self-taught through books, experiences from acting, acting, making music, choosing music for plays and writing scripts," he said.

The first show directed by Vu Xuan Trang - "Oan Gia" was fortunate to have the collaboration of artist Minh Nhi and pregnant woman Hong Van - star artists on the southern theater stage, so his path as a director Later, it was also smoother and more convenient when working with other actors.

He confided: "Once I've worked with big stars, working with young people is very easy. I overcame that pressure, so the following plays went very smoothly."

After "Oan Gia", Vu Xuan Trang created a series of other plays such as: Werewolves, The Walking Dead, Dominant Family, Stone to Take Souls, The Haunting, Crossroads, Friday the 13th, The 13th Floor, Insomnia , House on a boat...

What's special is that 80% of these plays were scripted by Vu Xuan Trang himself. Many of them are popular plays at the Hong Van theater stage.

With more than 20 years of artistic activities in many roles: actor, director, script writer, music composer... artist Vu Xuan Trang is also respected as a teacher when he devotes himself to training and vocational training for young people.

The person who brought Vu Xuan Trang to this role is none other than artist Minh Nhi - a teacher of many stars today.

After more than 20 years with the Hong Van theater stage, artist Vu Xuan Trang established his own stage at the end of 2022 called Xom Drama. On this stage, he continues to train many generations of young actors as well as bring many neat, quality plays to the audience.
