At 44, Que Tran still maintains a youthful appearance and a discreet lifestyle within the entertainment industry. After a memorable career milestone, the female artist quietly continues her journey on stage, carrying with her a deep promise that has never faded from her heart.
People's Artist Quế Trân said she felt happy to have had the opportunity to collaborate with Đại Việt Theatre to revive many traditional cải lương plays that were once associated with the Minh Tơ troupe. For the female artist, this is not simply an artistic activity but also a way to preserve and pass on the precious values that her father – People's Artist Thanh Tòng – dedicated his life to building.
According to Que Tran, her father painstakingly researched and adapted Vietnamese traditional opera to create a purely Vietnamese style of Cai Luong (Vietnamese classical opera). This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Bau Thang - Minh To family, so the revival of classic plays is especially meaningful. "My father made great efforts to research and adapt traditional opera to create a purely Vietnamese style of Cai Luong. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Bau Thang - Minh To family. Therefore, in the recent performances, we learned from our predecessors while also creating something new and innovative to keep up with the times. In the future, if conditions are favorable, we will continue this journey," Que Tran shared.
Nearly a decade has passed since the death of People's Artist Thanh Tòng, yet the female artist still feels her father's presence nearby, watching over her every step. Throughout her career, she considers her father her greatest teacher, not only for his direct guidance but also for his artistic vision and adaptability. "I learned from him, imitating his teachings and applying them to my current work. Later, I gained more experience from other talented senior artists whom I consider mentors," she said.
Her deep bond with her father made the shock of his loss incredibly difficult for Que Tran. There were times when she felt like giving up, feeling like she had no emotional support left. However, after a period of suffering, the artist told herself she had to be strong to be a pillar of support for her mother and family, and to continue the path her father had been passionate about.
All the longing and affection for her father were fully poured into each of Quế Trân's roles. Last April, she and her team revived two plays, "The Poem of the Horse's Saddle" and "The Great Viet Proclamation," which are considered the most cherished works in the career of People's Artist Thanh Tòng. During the performances, Quế Trân couldn't hide her emotion at the warm reception from the audience, shedding tears of happiness as she felt she had partially fulfilled her promise to her father.
Currently, Que Tran maintains her stage performance schedule, participates in filming for television stations, and creates some personal content for YouTube. Alongside her career, Que Tran chooses a private lifestyle. At 44, she still maintains a youthful appearance thanks to a balanced lifestyle, regular exercise, and a relaxed mindset.
After the spotlight fades, the artist dedicates her time to her family, especially her elderly mother. Recently, she opened a vegetarian restaurant and also organizes charitable arts activities to support elderly artists and backstage workers in difficult circumstances. In 2024, Que Tran was awarded the title of People's Artist – one of the youngest artists to achieve this honor.
