Identifying himself as still a "blank page" with cinema, artist Binh Tinh spent many nights practicing dialogue, looking in the mirror to adjust each expression to get rid of the shadow of Cai Luong and fully integrate into his new role.
On the evening of December 2, the premiere of the film The Devil Prince took place in Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City in a vibrant atmosphere. The event brought together director Tran Huu Tan, producer Hoang Quan and the cast of Anh Tu Atus, Luong The Thanh, Huynh Thanh Truc, Hoang Linh Chi, Binh Tinh... The work was noticed right from the first information when adapted from the novel Ly Trieu Heterogeneous by writer Phan Cuong and exploited the rare historical horror color on the Vietnamese screen.
The Devil Prince is set in the Le Trung Hung period, revolving around the character Than Duc (Anh Tu Atus) â a prince, hiding a tragic fate. Confronting him is the village chief Lu Dat (Luong The Thanh), who stands up to rally the villagers against the evil spirit and dark conspiracies that are engulfing.
Not only is it a war of good and evil, the film also exploits layers of Vietnamese history, beliefs and folklore materials told in modern cinematic language.
Binh Tinh: "I pray to the holy ancestor for me to step out of Cai Luong to challenge myself". In the film, Cai Luong artist Binh Tinh takes on the role of Mrs. Tue Lieu â who uses evil magic to give birth to Than Duc. Although she is the leader of the ancient troupe Huynh Long, she admits that with cinema she is still just a "blank sheet of paper".
Binh Tinh said she was grateful to be given the opportunity to participate in the project by director Tran Huu Tan and producer Hoang Quan. What she cherishes the most is the feeling of living in a new creative environment: "I pray that the patriarch of Cai Luong will allow me to leave Cai Luong for a while, to integrate into a new world, to do what I dream of in my professional life. I don't think I will stomp on the Cai Luong stage, I always want to learn and expand to all industries" â Binh Tinh shared.
Although the role is not too big, she is still seriously prepared. Before the day of filming for three nights in a row, the female artist did not sleep but sat in front of the mirror to practice dialogue, controlling her facial expressions to separate from the familiar image of a Cai Luong artist. She often watches her colleagues perform, especially observing Luong The Thanh to learn how to control and handle emotions on the set. Binh Tinh hopes that the role of Mrs. Phi Tue Lieu will be the first mark for the audience to accept her in a new field.
Taking on the role of Than Duc, Anh Tu Atus said that although he spent nearly two years pursuing singing in Say Hi Brother and concerts, he always determined that he belonged to cinema. Than Duc is a rare type of villain role, with many internal conflicts, exactly the type of character he has wanted to try for a long time.
Anh Tu revealed that his wife â actor Dieu Nhi â was always by his side to encourage: they both read the script and both believed that this was an opportunity for him to show more acting colors.
According to producer Hoang Quan, after The Devil Prince, the historical horror film series will continue to be the main orientation of Production Q Company in the next 5 years. He said that the reason is his love for Vietnamese folklore materials: "Ancient horror is a factor for the audience to remember me. Director Tran Huu Tan and I both want to make more works that exploit Vietnamese culture."
