Recently, the news that People's Artist Kim Cuong had difficulty breathing and almost fainted due to an unstable heart rate and was taken to the Ho Chi Minh City Heart Institute for emergency treatment has caused concern and worry among many viewers.
According to Nguoi Lao Dong, the female artist was taken care of by a niece when she was hospitalized. Currently, People's Artist Kim Cuong is out of the critical stage.
Sister Bay - the niece who has been helping People's Artist Kim Cuong in all her activities for a long time, worriedly said: "She has passed the critical stage, but the doctors have instructed to keep her calm, not to fall or overexert herself."
People's Artist Kim Cuong said her health has improved. In 2019, People's Artist Kim Cuong was diagnosed with a heart attack when she suddenly had difficulty breathing and was taken to the emergency room by her family. Before that, the female artist had symptoms of heart disease that caused chest pain. When the weather changed, she easily got tired and her condition relapsed.
People's Artist Kim Cuong's full name is Nguyen Thi Kim Cuong, born in 1937 in Saigon in a well-behaved family with a rich artistic tradition.
Her mother is People's Artist Bay Nam - who is known as the "living founder" of Southern Cai Luong theater (along with People's Artist Phung Ha). Her father is the owner of Dai Phuoc Cuong troupe, one of the most powerful owners of Cai Luong theater. She is also the granddaughter of King Thanh Thai.
People's Artist Kim Cuong's great-grandmother and paternal grandmother were also troupe directors. On her mother's side, there were 11 uncles and aunts, of which 4 were famous artists in the cai luong world: Nam Phi, Bay Nam, Chin Bia, Muoi Truyen.
That is why People's Artist Kim Cuong was introduced to the stage at a very early age. Accordingly, when she was only 18 days old, she was carried onto the stage to play the role of Thi Mau's daughter. She lived with the troupe from a young age until she was old enough to walk and was taken onto the stage to play the role of the daughter. A little older, she began to sing and play this role and that role. Thanks to that, the blood of singing and acting was deeply ingrained in her veins, to the point of becoming one.
Her acting career came early, People's Artist Kim Cuong quickly became a young actress in Dai Phuoc Cuong troupe, touring everywhere with her parents and other troupe members.
Her first official role was Na Tra in the play Na Tra Lo Thit, written by People's Artist Bay Nam. Right from her childhood years, People's Artist Kim Cuong made an impression on the audience and gradually accumulated a lot of capital and experience on stage.
Although she started her career with cải lương and was greatly influenced by her cải lương family, People's Artist Kim Cuong showed more passion and affinity for spoken drama. Regarding this transformation, People's Artist Kim Cuong explained that she wanted to follow the evolution of society and wanted to change herself.
Cai luong has its own appeal, but drama is the one that goes deep into society. Kim Cuong likes to go straight to social issues quickly, so she chooses drama.
During the time of People's Artist Kim Cuong, playwrights mainly wrote scripts for reformed opera, very few wrote spoken drama. Therefore, she had to write her own scripts.
Thanks to that, People's Artist Kim Cuong has written many good scripts. She was officially recognized by the Vietnam Book of Records Center as the artist who wrote the most drama scripts in Vietnam. Every play she wrote was filled with passion and emotion.
In the 70s and 80s, People's Artist Kim Cuong reached the peak of her career, becoming famous throughout the theater world, comparable to Thanh Nga and Tham Thuy Hang.
In 2012, the female artist organized the show "Thank You Life" to express gratitude and say goodbye to the audience. After that, although she no longer performs as before, the female artist actively promotes stage drama and reformed opera to many audiences as well as the younger generation.
In addition, People's Artist Kim Cuong has been actively involved in charity work for many years. She organizes the program Artist Tri Am to reunite and help many artists every time Tet approaches.
Not only that, the female artist also actively helps poor children with heart surgery and helps poor patients.
