In the war against the US to save the country, Vietnam has done things that surprise and admire the whole world. The years of bombs and bullets have gone far away, but his father's glorious feat is always remembered by the next generation.
At that time, a woman appeared in Vietnam who made a very special thing. Until now, her miracle is still famous all over the world. She is the Hero of the People's Armed Forces Ngo Thi Tuyen (born in 1946), with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Memories of a time of smoke and fire
Although she has turned 80 years old, the female militia still thinks every year: As long as her heart is beatin.g, she still wants to contribute to the Fatherland. Hero Ngo Thi Tuyen was born in a poor family with 6 brothers and sisters.
When she was a chil.d, she followed her parents to work in the fields every day, grew up and followed her brothers and sisters to load and rent in the Ham Rong area, then was enlightened to the revolution and then joined the militia of Nam Ngan village.
Going back in time 60 years ago, having been defeated in the Southern battlefield, at the end of 1964 and early 1965, the US imperialists planned to throw many bombs in the North. It was determined that from Hanoi to the Ho Chi Minh Trail, there were 60 bottlenecks, of which Ham Rong was considered the "ideal bottleneck". is the "sucker of the waterpan handling area", collapsing the Ham Rong bridge will cut off the North-South traffic artery, weakening the role of the rear for the front line.
In just two days, April 3 and 4, 1965, the US military launched a large-scale war on Thanh Hoa with 174 aircraft groups, 454 aircraft, 627 bombs, 58 bombs that will explode slowly, and hundreds of missiles and rockets aimed at key areas of the province.
Particularly in the Ham Rong - Nam Ngan - Yen Viet area, the US has carried out 85 dives, 80 bombardment cuts, 350 bombs and 149 rocket launches. The battle was extremely tense and fierce. In the Ham Rong - Nam Ngan area, each group of resilient militia spread everywhere, replenishing ammunition and loading wounds.
Many brothers and sisters bravely rowed boats, bringing ammunition to the reserve gunners to each battlefield. In the fierce context, Hero Ngo Thi Tuyen, who was only 19 years old at the time, volunteered to supply ammunition to the army, contributing to writing a heroic history of the indomitable spirit and courage of the people of Thanh Hoa during the period of smoke and fire.
On April 4, 1965, when she had just finished the task of searching for the American paratroopers, female militia Ngo Thi Tuyen met a navy ship and asked the militia to help transport shell casings to shore and supply ammunition to the ship.
Encountering 2 boxes of ammunition with iron belts tightly hooked together, the brothers used a spade to pop out to carry but could not. Afraid of delays affecting the battle, Ngo Thi Tuyen carried 2 boxes of ammunition weighing 98kg, tried to cross the dike, and moved to the riverbank to provide timely reinforcements for the troops.
"Back then, we fought directly during the day, and at night we dug fortifications to bring artillery into the battlefield. The fightin.g spirit is deeply ingrained in the subconscious of every young person. The Women's 3 Movement is guaranteed, Youth 3 is ready to blend together into a great rebound, each person does not have a little private thought," Ms. Ngo Thi Tuyen shared.
After the victory over Ham Rong and the legendary story of the female militia Ngo Thi Tuyen, many people were skeptical and questioned: Are those things true?
To answer that question, she herself, with resilience and self-respect, had to pass the "test" from a group of foreign reporters. They asked her to reenact the act of carrying a heavy box of ammunition in front of them to prove that the story was not just propaganda.
"In the midst of the fog of bombs, between life and deat.h, between freedom and slavery, everyone is full of energy. But when faced with that request, I thought, if I can't do it, they will definitely think that everything is just a lie, just propaganda...
And if that happens, not only the honor of me personally, of my unit, but the face of the whole country will be hurt," Ms. Tuyen recalled with a smile.
With all her strength and self-esteem, she carried on her shoulders a 50 kg bag of rice and a 50 kg bag of potatoes, recreating the historical moment of every year. Not only her, but everyone who witnessed it felt proud, and Western reporters constantly praised: "She made us believe that the people's war in Vietnam was really wonderful."
After that event, they gave her a book and a Venus pen, memorabilia that she still keeps to this day.
Another deep memory that cannot be forgotten for the heroine Ngo Thi Tuyen, on May 26, 1965, when two of our Navy ships were assigned to unload American commando ships off the coast, while the war was ongoing, our ship was discovered by enemy aircraft and had to move on to the Ham Rong protection artillery cluster. just had to confront the US Air Force from Lach Hoi Gate. When the two ships approached the Nam Ngan village area, the soldiers on the ship signaled for help.
At that time, Ms. Ngo Thi Tuyen was on duty nearby. Realizing the urgency of the situation, she did not hesitate, immediately swam to the sea, approaching the damaged ship. When she got on the ship, she witnessed many of our soldiers who had died or were seriously injured.
A soldier was seriously injured in the abdomen, Ms. Tuyen quickly conducted first aid on the spot. After that, she continued to bring a wounded soldier to the deck and signaled to the forces on the shore so that they could respond in time...
It was in that fierce battle that female militia Ngo Thi Tuyen was admitted to the Party right on the battlefield, marking an important turning point in her heroic fightin.g life.
Intact memories of the honor to meet Uncle Ho
Hero Ngo Thi Tuyen was honored to be awarded many noble gifts and titles by the Party and the State, but the greatest happiness for her was the first time she met Uncle Ho at the National Congress of Emulation Heroes and Soldiers in 1966.
Not only was she welcome Uncle to the Congress, female militia Ngo Thi Tuyen was also given priority to sit next to Uncle during breaks, chatting, asking about her health, teammates, family and even private love stories...
In addition to meeting Uncle Ho 3 times, Ms. Tuyen was also awarded his Badge and awarded the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces at the National Emulation Soldier Congress; was awarded two first-class and second-class victory medals by the Party and the State for combat achievements and combat service at the coordinates of the Nam Ngan - Ham Rong fire.
