People's Artist Thu Hien is considered as a monument of lyrical and revolutionary music with the sound of Vietnamese folk songs. Her singing ranged from the time the country was at war to the time of peace. Born into a family with a long artistic tradition in the rice countryside of Thai Binh, People's Artist Thu Hien soon nurtured a great love for music.

Her father is Meritorious Artist Nguyen Hoai An, known by the nickname Tam Ken of the Inter-regional V Folk Dance Troupe (precursor of the Binh Dinh Bai Choi Opera Troupe), her mother is a Cheo actress Thanh Hao, originally from Thai Binh .

At the age of 10, People's Artist Thu Hien had a predestined relationship with the stage. At the age of 15, she became a singer who followed soldiers to the battlefields from North to Central to strengthen their will.

Sharing about this heroic time, People's Artist Thu Hien confided: "Initially, I sang in military zone 4, including Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, and Quang Binh, in a very difficult situation.

In 1967, I crossed the line to the other side of Quang Tri city. I sang all over Quang Tri, in 1968, I withdrew to the North to consolidate to continue following the path of liberation of the South. I was lucky enough to follow that liberation army.

After that, I trained in Ha Tinh and then returned to Quang Tri to sing until the end of 1972 to liberate all of Quang Tri. I was able to sing to the other side of Quang Tri while the country was being divided."

In the midst of the fire bomb era, the high-pitched voice, inner strength but sweet, tender, filled with the love of People's Artist Thu Hien used to sing across the battlefields to "fuel" the spirit of the militia.

That voice was also a "mental medicine" to ease the physical pain of wounded soldiers in the operating room, giving them more motivation to overcome the moment of life and death.

People's Artist Thu Hien once recounted emotionally: "I used to sing in the caves of surgery for my comrades, there was no anesthetic but only singing. Just "bro, open your eyes to see me sing", keep singing like that. , from one post to another".

People's Artist Thu Hien's voice is associated with the soldier. She and People's Artist Trung Duc are considered as golden symbols of red music duos.

Later, when the country was unified, People's Artist Thu Hien was assigned to the Vietnam Music and Dance Theater, at first as the Ethnic Group. She worked here until she retired.

People's Artist Thu Hien's life is closely related to soldiers, so her husband is also a soldier, that is Armed Forces Hero Vu Ngoc Dinh. Mr. Vu Ngoc Dinh is a wartime pilot hero with the record of shooting down 6 American planes in 1970.

According to People's Artist Thu Hien, she loves her husband because he is a simple person who understands and shares. Not only the love between husband and wife, there is also comradeship and friendship between them.

At the age of U70, People's Artist Thu Hien has a peaceful and happy life with her husband.

Despite being a famous person, People's Artist Thu Hien keeps her private life private and unobtrusive. She does not use social networks to avoid unnecessary marketing. As a result, People's Artist Thu Hien always maintains a beautiful image in the hearts of the public.

It is known that People's Artist Thu Hien is currently living with her husband in an apartment building in Ho Chi Minh City. The children do not live with her and her husband but still regularly visit and take care of their parents.
