MCK: Talented rapper with many scandals, everyone has to be "wary", just made a comeback

When he first emerged after "Rap Viet", MCK won the hearts of many rap fans thanks to his good, catchy and trendy music. However, the change in his style and the controversies caused a part of his fans to turn away.

MCK's real name is Nghiem Vu Hoang Long, born on March 2, 1999 in Hanoi, is a famous rapper, singer and songwriter. He joined the Indie and Underground world with a familiar name in the group CDSL ART COLLECTIVE. According to information on his personal page, this 9X once studied abroad.

MCK became more known after participating in the program "Rap Viet". His impressive, skillful, and entertaining melody rap style brought MCK's name closer to the audience. In particular, the 9X guy's ability to Autotune live was praised by Wowy as a "genius".

MCK's music career began in early 2018 as an independent singer-songwriter "Nger". He made his debut with the smash hit "Tinh Dang Nhu Ly Ca Phe" with Nân, which has garnered over 50 million views since its upload, marking one of the most successful debuts in the independent music community in Vietnam.

MCK's biggest turning point was in 2019 when he started pursuing Hip-hop music with hits like "Suy" (Prod. By Pacmxn), "Phat Dien" (collaborating with Trung Tran, Teeayz) with itsnk, Nân and Haisam. Although he was only 20 at the time, his name was already known to many listeners and received a lot of love.

In the same year, MCK was a rare young singer to appear in a music night gathering famous Indie artists and became a candidate for the "Promising Face" category of the WeChoice Awards. He stirred up the whole audience with his hits.

In 2020, MCK decided to try his hand at the "Rap Viet" competition. Right from the first round, he was highly appreciated by the audience and the judges. 2021 is a year of many changes in MCK's music career. In the summer of the year, he became 1 of 2 faces representing DIBAO's "Don't Try" campaign and appeared as a guest artist in many hits in collaboration with other artists.

On February 24, 2022, MCK released the single "Chím Sau" with Trung Tran. This single marked the beginning of his debut album launch campaign and quickly won the love of fans. "Chím Sau" later became the most listened to song on Spotify in Vietnam in 2022 and topped the Ho.t 100 Vietnam and Top Vietnamese Song charts of Billboard Vietnam for many weeks.

On September 23, 2022, MCK released the single "Why". On March 2, 2023, he officially released his debut studio album, 99%. The album includes 16 songs recorded from early 2021 to late 2022, of which were extracted to release the opening single for the album such as "Cuon Cho Anh Mot Dieu Nua Di", "Chim Sau", "Why" and previously released songs "Chi Mot Dem Nua Thoi", "Va Vao Giai Dieu Nay", "Tho er", "Badtrip"; also featuring the voices of tlinh, Hoang Ton, Trung Tran, tbach, ihndelit, phng_tuyt, tolopo, tanahuynh (from the ATT team).

After its release, the album 99% received enthusiastic support and praise for the quality of the music from the audience for the product. Not only that, 99% also topped the Top Albums chart of iTunes and Apple Music in Vietnam.

In February 2024, after failing to be nominated for the 2023 Green Wave Awards, MCK suddenly made a controversial move when he placed the Green Wave trophy after winning the "Top 1 Most Favorite Song" awar.d on the lid of the trash can in the bathroom.

In July of the same year, the male rapper's appearance continued to stir up the internet when he shaved his eyebrows, wore a choker, and was criticized by many as "eccentric". Not stopping there, he also had a unique interaction on the event stage.

MCK's attitude afterwards was quite positive, not much affected by the noise. He posted the status: "Desperate times call for desperate measures" and "for my pride" with a picture of himself wearing a suit standing in front of a mirror. However, the male rapper has not yet officially commented on the authenticity of the photo.
