The parents added that the family unilaterally terminated the contract with singer Thai Thuy Linh's training center right after the Vietnamese Children's Vocal Contest in November 2014 on the grounds that she was in a period of breaking her voice, felt a lot of pressure, and wanted to focus more on her studies. Mai Chi Cong's father also explained that the age is calculated in months (Mai Chi Cong was born in 7/2002) so she is not yet 14 years old. When registering with the organizers, there is no problem, so the family is assured to let their children take the exam.

Regarding the phrase "I have not studied singing anywhere", Mai Chi Cong explained that she just wanted to talk about the time 2 years after stepping out of the Vietnamese Child Singing Contest. Besides, I don't want to repeat the sad story between me and singer Thai Thuy Linh because both sides have lost contact after the previous fuss. The contestant's father shared that the sentence didn't mean anything, just a misleading way of saying it. What Mai Chi Cong wants to convey is that since The Voice Kids, I have not studied under anyone anymore. This incident, the family also does not want to be misleading as it is now.
