Just starting her solo career, Lisa has proven her huge popularity on Spotify by surpassing her senior IU, who has held the position of queen on this platform for many years.
On August 27, Lisa (BlackPink) reached 8,701,200 followers on the online music platform Spotify, officially breaking the record for the most followed female Kpop solo artist in the history of this platform. Previously, IU was the female Kpop solo artist who held this record for many years.
Lisa also once again reached 21 million monthly listeners on Spotify, surpassing Jungkook (BTS), and along with group member Jennie, became the two K-pop solo artists with the most monthly listeners on the platform.
Despite debuting solo quite late and owning a modest number of songs on Spotify, Lisa's achievement has proven the huge appeal of the female idol. No longer promoting as a member of the group BlackPink, Lisa has now entered a new phase of her career as an independent artist under her own label LLOUD.
Not only has she achieved many successes in music, the female artist has also recently reached 100 million followers on Instagram, bringing in huge revenue for each advertising post on this social network.
According to statistics from UK-based data analytics company Hopper HQ, Lisa ranks 29th on the list of people with the most followers on Instagram. With her account currently reaching more than 103 million followers, Hopper HQ predicts that Lisa can earn about $623,000 (about 15.4 billion VND) for each post.
Lisa has proven herself to be one of the most influential music artists of the decade by becoming the first K-pop solo star to perform at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. On August 21, the organizers of the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) announced that Lisa would be part of the lineup of performers at the awards ceremony in September.
The announcement created a stir on social media with many positive comments and applause from the public, especially Asians, as Lisa made history by becoming the first Kpop solo artist to perform at the VMAs since the prestigious awards show was established more than 39 years ago.
Lisa's fans expressed their excitement under the VMAs post: "We're ready to welcome the queen", "She's going to give the best performance of the night", "We're going to sing and dance our hearts out for her", "We love it", "Long awaited news, so much to look forward to", "I'm 100% watching the VMAs this year. Can't wait to see our Lisa".
Not only is she a guest star, Lisa also received significant recognition with 4 nominations at the 2024 VMAs for her global hit Rockstar, becoming the most nominated K-pop solo artist in a calendar year. These are Best K-pop MV, Best Choreography, Best Art Direction and Best Editing.
In 2022, Lisa exploded with an unprecedented achievement. She was the first solo artist to win both the MTV Video Music Awards and the MTV Europe Music Awards. The Thai beauty also set two Guinness World Records thanks to this achievement.
Fans expect the youngest member of BlackPink to repeat that momentous moment at the 2024 VMAs, scheduled to take place on September 11 at the UBS Arena in New York City, USA.
However, some viewers have mixed opinions about Lisa's new career milestone. They think that Rockstar is not a Kpop music product and Lisa wants to move towards the role of a solo artist without the word "Kpop" attached.
Since the Born Pink tour in 2022-2023, BlackPink has been on hiatus. The only time the YG quartet publicly reunited in 2024 was to promote the documentary BlackPink World Tour Born Pink in Cinemas on August 9. The day before, they celebrated the group's 8th anniversary in private.
