Linh Mieu wins big, 4 days of revenue over 44 billion despite being said to be as scary as a comedy

According to data from Box Office Vietnam, as of November 25, the movie "Lynx: Ghost in the House" has surpassed 44 billion VND after 4 days of release. On November 25 alone, the film earned more than 2.3 billion VND.

The film's weekend revenue also led the box office with more than 24 billion VND, equivalent to more than 280,000 tickets sold. After many weeks of being overshadowed, Vietnamese films have regained their position on the revenue charts. Upon its release, the horror film "Lynx: Ghost in the Palace" quickly attracted the attention of audiences, leading in both the number of screenings and ticket sales.

The project surpassed Korean films and Hollywood blockbusters to dominate the weekend box office, and will likely stay in the top spot for a few more weeks because there are no strong competitors standing in its way.

"Linh Luc: Quy Nhap Trang Tiep" continues the success of "Quy Cau", opening a new phase of Vietnamese horror films. Next week, the film does not face many strong competitors, so it is likely to continue to dominate the box office.

Previously, this film had opened for special screenings. The film is based on a folk tale, exploiting horror phenomena revolving around a feudal family living in Hue. In addition, the project also introduces the audience to the art of ceramic mosaic, while depicting the division related to class and the male-dominated viewpoint.

"Ling lynx: Ghost in the Palace" stars artist Hong Dao, actor Van Anh, actor Thien An, actor Samuel Hoang... Notably, this is the first movie that Miss Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien has participated in.

Sharing her experience, the 9X beauty confided that the film's story was not related to her daily life, so she had difficulty finding the emotions to express the character. Learning to speak in a Hue accent to play the role was also a difficult problem for Thuy Tien.

Linh Mieu is set in Hue with the wealthy Duong Phuc family, who specialize in building and inlaying porcelain on tombs for the upper class. On her birthday, Me Bich (Hong Dao) decides to hand over her business to her second son Vinh Trong (Samuel An) and his wife My Kim (Thien An) to manage. Because her eldest son Vinh Thai (Van Anh) has gone crazy after an incident in the past. However, disaster strikes when the eldest grandson Gia Cuong (little Bao Duy) suddenly drowns. At the funeral, a strange black cat suddenly jumps over the coffin, bringing the bo.y back to life. This also begins a series of tragedies for the Duong Phuc family.

The biggest plus point of Linh Mieu is probably the setting. The film cleverly chose Hue with many spiritual and ghostly stories, while creating something new compared to other works with the same theme. The old house of Duong Phuc's family with many rooms and dark corridors creates a feeling of loneliness and coldness. The film's color is quite beautiful, bringing a stuffy and gloomy atmosphere. However, those promising beginnings were wasted in vain.

Instead of focusing on the horror scares like Ghost Dog, director Luu Thanh Luan showed greed when he wanted the movie to have ghosts but also bloo.d and deat.h. The scare tactics that made the work successful before are now too old. Most of the scare scenes in the movie use jump-scare elements that are too easy to guess when the ghost will appear, accompanied by loud sounds that are startling but not scary at all.

From the beginning, Linh Mieu created mystery and undercurrents in the Duong Phuc family when everyone had their own secrets. The eldest son Vinh Thai was mentally unstable due to a terrible incident. Meanwhile, Gia Phuc's deat.h and rebirth were both tinged with mystery and mystery. The bo.y's change in personality or the horrific events that happened to the family made the audience wonder.

But in less than half of the duration, the audience can easily know the identity of the demon, the mystery of Duong Phuc's family, and even who the real villain is. The way Luu Thanh Luan creates knots or reveals small pieces of the puzzle is too inexperienced.

Even funnier, Linh Mieu also let the villain stand there talking about morality, explaining human nature and blaming the other party for living a wrongful life for dozens of minutes. Instead of finishing off the enemy, this character just stood there talking and laughing, acting dangerous and then recounting from the process to the end of his plan.
