Ladies' Code is a Korean girl group that is considered the most pitiful group in Kpop. During their activities, the girls had to witness huge losses. When there were 5 people in the group, 2 people passed away.
Ladies' Code is a South Korean girl group formed by Polaris Entertainment in 2013. The group's original lineup consisted of leader Ashley, RiSe, EunB, Sojung, and Zuny. The group debuted with the mini-album Code#01 Bad Girl which was released on March 7, 2013. They left Polaris Entertainment after their contract ended on February 17, 2020.
Before forming the group, most members had some experience in the entertainment industry. RiSe participated in Miss Korea 2009 as Japan's representative, and won the Korean Foreigner Award. She became famous for participating in the talent show called Star Audition: The Great Birth and placing in the Top 12. She later appeared with Star Audition contestant David Oh as a couple in the reality show We Got Married in 2011. RiSe then signed with KeyEast before switching agencies in 2013.
EunB was previously a trainee at FNC Entertainment, where she was in AOA's original lineup. However, she left the company before the group debuted because she felt she needed more experience as a trainee. Sojung made it to the final round and reached the top 8 of The Voice of Korea's first season.
Ashley, before her debut, was known for posting dance covers of K-pop songs on YouTube and was a former Cube Entertainment trainee. Zuny is mainly known as a former BigHit Entertainment trainee.
On the morning of September 3, 2014, Korean public opinion was shaken by the news that the Ladies' Code group had a tragic car crash on the way to Seoul. The person driving the group's car was the manager, who was later sentenced to 14 months in prison for speeding, leading to a serious incident.
According to reports from authorities, the Ladies' Code manager drove at a speed of 137 km/h (85 mph), while the maximum speed allowed on the above road is 100 km/h. (62 mph). The weather in the early morning of September 3, 2014 was quite bad, it was raining heavily and the road was slippery, leading to the car skidding and losing control, crashing into a barrier on the highway in Yeongdong.
At the time of the incident, there were 7 people in the car, including the driver - the group's manager, a costume assistant and 5 Ladies' Code members. Examination of the scene showed that member EunB could not survive. According to the police report, when she died, the female singer was still clutching the teddy bear given to her by her fans.
Two members So Jung and Kwon Rise were the most seriously injured among the remaining 6 people. Both people were taken into emergency surgery to save their lives. However, Rise's surgery had to be stopped because the female singer born in 1991 was unable to cure her. The beauty of the Ladies' Code group passed away after 4 days in the emergency room.
In the show Sing Again aired in early December 2020, So Jung - former member of Ladies' Code - burst into tears when mentioning her band. The 27-year-old singer shared: "I want to return to being a singer happily like before. I debuted in a 5-member group, but a tragic accident left us with only 3 people. I really It hurts when the audience calls us the phrase 'poor band' every time the group appears on TV." The audience has been calling So Jung and her colleagues the above phrase for the past 6 years, because in reality, there is hardly any group that has experienced more loss and hurt than Ladies' Code.
Before the incident, Ladies' Code was a group that received a lot of attention from Korean audiences. The 5 girls also received the Outstanding Rookie award at the 2013 Gaon Chart Kpop Awards.
At the time of the collision, the group was promoting the song Kiss Kiss - the most famous period of Ladies' Code. However, because of the incident, the three girls had to pause their activities for a long time for medical and psychological treatment.
So Jung shared, "At first, I always thought everything wasn't true. I always felt like EunB and Rise were just on vacation in a far away place." September 3 is also So Jung's birthday. The group gave her a cake and a hasty celebration right in the car before the incident. That was also the last time the female idol celebrated her birthday.
"It's no longer a day to receive good wishes. If in the morning I visit EunB and Rise's graves, then celebrate in the evening, it would be weird. My birthday is such a sad day." That's it," So Jung said on Channel A's Eye's Contact program.
The youngest member of the group, Zuny, revealed that she did not dare wash her face for a long time because she thought about the rain pouring down on her face the night of the accident. The female singer also did not dare to close her eyes to sleep, and did not dare to turn off the lights at night. Because if she goes to sleep, she will have nightmares, dreaming of images of the tragic accident in 2014.
