Key (SHINee) admits feeling lost, shares shoc.k about Jonghyun's passing

Although many years have passed, Jonghyun's passing is still a great loss for Korean music and the group SHINee. Recently, Key (SHINee) had the opportunity to open up about his idol career as well as his late teammate Jonghyun.

Surely there is no Kpop fan who does not know about the late Idol Jonghyun, a member of SHINee who passed away in 2017. In the past few years, for SHINee fans, topics about Jonghyun have always been considered sensitive and rarely mentioned, but Key - Jonghyun's teammate turned out to not support that.

On the show I Live Alone, as close friends, Key shared his thoughts with Taeyeon about his feelings and the reason why Key mentioned Jonghyun. "Up until now, I really hat.e that every topic related to Jonghyun is listed as taboo. I hope everyone understands that it's okay for me, and there's nothing wrong with remembering him or showing affection for him. That's my true thoughts," he confided.

On the latest episode of tvN's "You Quiz on the Block," SHINee's Key and his mother appeared as guests. Their appearance not only brought interesting stories but also touched the hearts of the audience when Key shared his sincere thoughts about his journey with SHINee. In the introduction video, Key confessed that there were times when he wondered if he really fit in with the group: "The group was doing well, but I felt like I had no presence and didn't belong in my group." This shared perspective reflects a true perspective on the pressure that K-pop idols face, not only from the public but also from themselves. Behind the stage's spotlight is the struggle to find one's place in a popular group like SHINee.

Notably, Key also mentioned member Jonghyun and his regretful departure: "At that time, I was really shocked and wondered what the purpose of life was. I even thought about giving up everything." Key continued to share about the group's most difficult moment, but it was also the time when the members relied on each other to overcome: "I went through many breakdowns, but at the Tokyo Dome concert, we had the thought 'let's overcome this together'.

It would be difficult if there was no place to honor him together. We wanted to send him off like that. His brilliant and short youth," the SHINee member shared. Key's words not only expressed the pain of loss but also his respect for Jonghyun - an irreplaceable teammate and brother.

Key and Jonghyun are 1 year apart in ag.e and were extremely close in SHINee. At Jonghyun's funeral, Key cried so much that he collapsed on Onew's shoulder. Jonghyun was not only an excellent singer but also a talented musician and producer.
