Jennifer Lopez Reveals Rare 'Want to End Life' After Painful Split from Ben Affleck

It's been two decades since Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck met, becoming Hollywood's most noted lovers. The top American entertainment duo, dating since 2002, had planned a dream wedding, but gossip and excessive media attention ended the affair in 2004.

After the breakup, they were both caught up in new relationships, had families of their own, and experienced breakdowns. In 2021, these two people once again found each other, continuing their unfinished love affair.

"It hurt after we broke up," Jennifer Lopez, 53, told host Zane Lowe. "When we called off that wedding 20 years ago, it was the biggest pain of my life. Honestly, I felt like I was going to die. That sent me into a spiral for the next 18 years. But now, 20 years later, we have a happy ending. It's an ending that never happens in Hollywood."

Jennifer Lopez rekindled her romance with Ben Affleck, 50, 17 years after they first split — announced on Nov. 25 that she's releasing a new album called This is Me... Now, an update in her 2002 release This is Me... Bar.

The Let's Get Loud singer explained: "We seized this moment when I returned to the love of my life and we decided to be together forever. The whole message of the album is, 'This love exists. This is true love.'"

The two stars got engaged for the first time in November 2002, the same month the album This is Me ... Bar. Lopez told Zane Lowe: "Now I think the message of the album is if you, like me, have lost hope at times, almost give up, then don't. True love has always existed and it is true. I want to get that message out to the world."

In April 2021, Page Six reported that Lopez and Affleck were hanging out together again after she split from ex-fiancé Alex Rodriguez. They got engaged a year later and tied the knot in Las Vegas in July 2022, followed by a formal ceremony at Affleck's Georgia estate the following month.

The wedding was attended by famous friends such as actor Matt Damon and director Kevin Smith.

Jennifer Lopez's 14-year-old twins Max and Emme, the two children she has with ex Marc Anthony and Affleck's children with Jennifer Garner: Violet (16), Seraphina (13) and Samuel (10) also attended the wedding.

The "resumption of old love" with Jennifer Lopez makes Ben Affleck's life brighter after a difficult time due to alcoholism and stumbling into career and emotional setbacks.
