On June 6, Thai media simultaneously reported that Ms. Anne Jakrajutatip, the transgender businesswoman behind the acquisition of the Miss Universe organization, has officially withdrawn from all management and executive positions at JKN Group.
According to the notice, her decision to resign took effect from June 5.
Notably, this move took place not long after Ms. Anne was accused by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC) of misconduct in disclosing financial information.
In early 2024, Ms. Anne Jakrajutatip, chairman of JKN Group, transferred 50% of the shares of the Miss Universe organization to Mexican billionaire Raul Rocha. After this deal, the beauty contest known as the most fierce on the planet has entered a comprehensive restructuring phase.
Accordingly, Miss Universe is divided into two independent management units: Mr. Raul Rocha is in charge of operating in North and South America, while Ms. Anne continues to be in charge of the Asian market and the rest of the regions. Despite the separation of powers, Miss Universe's headquarters are still located in New York and are jointly managed by JKN under the leadership of Anne.
Therefore, Ms. Anne's sudden announcement to withdraw from all roles at JKN after allegations from Thailand's financial regulator has caused public concern. Miss Universe, which was in the process of rebuilding, suddenly revealed the power gaps. This raises many questions about the future of the long-standing beauty arena. Even a part of fans expressed concern that Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil, president of Miss Grand International, could take advantage of the opportunity to rise to dominance, pushing Miss Universe into a period of decline.
In April 2025, JKN Group made social networks "wake up" when it suddenly appointed Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil, Chairman of Miss Grand International, to serve as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Miss Universe organization. This move has changed the leadership situation in one of the most prestigious beauty arenas in the world.
Not stopping there, Miss Grand International was also allocated 100 million new shares issued by JKN, with a total estimated value of about 50 million Thai baht. This deal has further sparked speculation about Mr. Nawat's growing influence in the Miss Universe management apparatus.
Therefore, the audience's concern about the possibility of Mr. Nawat completely replacing the role of Ms. Anne Jakrajutatip is completely grounded. In the eyes of the public, he is a figure who often creates controversy because of his attention-grabbing speaking style and controversial strategies in how to organize the Miss Grand International contest. The fact that a factor with many conflicting opinions approached the position of power at Miss Universe has made many fans worried about the future and core values of this contest.
Since officially taking power at Miss Universe Thailand and intervening deeply in the activities of the Miss Universe organization, Mr. Nawat Itsaragrisil has made many controversial regulations. One of the things that made the public outraged was the ban on contestants who had participated in Miss Thailand and Miss Global from registering to compete in any contest owned by him.
This policy was quickly condemned by the public as authoritarian and lacking an open spirit, creating an unfair competitive environment in the beauty sector. Many people think that this is a clear manifestation of the tendency to manipulate and over-control in the beauty contest industry.
Not only stopping at barrier regulations, Mr. Nawat was also entangled in a scandal when he was criticized by Rachel Gupta , the former Miss International Peace 2024. The incident has sparked a wave of harsh criticism, questioning professionalism and leadership ethics.
In addition, Miss Universe Thailand under the new management is gradually shifting to a commercialized model, similar to the organizational style of Miss Grand Thailand and Miss Grand International where the image and content of the contest have been repeatedly commented as "dramatic", following tastes instead of honoring core values.
Nawat is a powerful virtual artist who banned a former Miss Cosmo contestant from competing, causing a stir on social media. Kim Oanh4 months agoIn a video recorded by Corona Pageants at a press conference after the MUT 2025 press conference ended, Mr. Nawat bluntly banned contestants who had participated in the Miss Cosmo contest from continuing to compete in Miss Universe Thailand and Miss Grand Thailand.
