After nearly a year of public uproar with information about the man claiming to be Jennie 's biological father, the Goyang Branch Court recently officially issued its final verdict.
According to Women Sense, Jennie has completely won the lawsuit against Mr. Kim Hyung Jin, who impersonated and spread false information about the blood relationship with this global female idol.
Court Verdict: "Fake" Claims and a Full Ban
In its ruling, the Court clearly stated: "Mr. Kim Hyung Jin's assertion that he is Jennie's biological father is completely false." This is a strong conclusion, completely rejecting Mr. Kim's baseless statements that have caused many misunderstandings and harm to BLACKPINK 's main rapper.
At the same time, the Court also approved her lawsuit, requesting that this man and related parties be prohibited from publishing any publications containing the above false statements. Accordingly, Kim Hyung Jin and the publisher are forced to recall and destroy all publications about Jennie.
Not only that, the person claiming to be the female idol's biological father also had to delete all posts and images about her from his personal social media account. This is a strong move to completely prevent the spread of false information and protect Jennie's image and honor on the internet.
In addition, the Court also ordered Kim Hyung Jin to be banned from participating in any future broadcasts or interviews related to the incident. This is to minimize the possibility of him continuing to take advantage of BLACKPINK's main rapper's popularity for personal gain or to cause further trouble.
The defendants were ordered to pay all legal costs, although the Court did not impose a judgment of enforcement or a fine because the case involved a violation of honor and personality rather than property rights.
How the Case Went From Controversial Novel to Major Hearing
The incident began to cause a stir last August, when writer and PD Kim Hyung Jin released a novel called "World Informant". The content is said to be about the process of world stars like Jennie and PSY participating in a simulation process at the global AI robot center.
It is worth mentioning that Mr. Kim blatantly declared himself to be the biological father of the female idol born in 1996 and wrote this book based on real events in his daughter's life, from the time she was a trainee until now. More seriously, the logo of Jennie's management company at that time, Odd Atelier, was also used without permission on the inside cover of the book, making it even more confusing for the public about the authenticity of the information.
More and more baseless rumors and hypotheses appeared, negatively affecting the image and life of the female idol. Faced with this situation, Jennie and her management company could not sit still. Since December 2024, she and her legal representative officially sued Kim Hyung Jin, asking the Court to ban the publication of the novel "World Informant".
The first hearing of the case took place in April this year (2025). The main BLACKPINK rapper did not attend the trial in person, showing her professionalism and trust in the legal system.
Legal basis and significance of the judgment
The court gave clear legal grounds for its ruling as follows: "Jennie's family relationship certificate lists another person as her biological father." Thus, there is no legal evidence other than Mr. Kim Hyung Jin's unilateral statement to verify his statement. Based on this, the court firmly determined that this was a "lie."
In addition, the Court also emphasized that Kim Hyung Jin's book publishing and related activities on social media easily led others to misunderstand that Jennie was directly involved in those contents. This behavior was determined by the Court to be "a serious violation of her honor and human rights".
The ruling highlights the legal consequences of impersonating public figures and spreading false information, especially in the digital age, where AI-generated content or fake news can blur the line between fiction and reality. It affirms that even in an age of technological advancement, the law will still protect the personal rights and reputation of each person, especially celebrities, who are often the targets of unverified information.
