Jack Long: Used to sell beef cakes, was squeezed into debt, now makes famous singer Huong Lan break the rules

Jack Long, born in 1997, real name is Vo Hoang Huy, from Chau Doc, An Giang. Born in a poor family, no one followed art, but since childhood, he has shown a passion for singing. The road to the profession of the runner-up of Ultimate Duet 2023 faces many difficulties. He used to study pharmacy but had to take a break because he did not meet the economic conditions. After that, the 9X singer went to work for a beauty salon to make ends meet, and in the evening he joined a volunteer singing group to both satisfy his passion and help difficult circumstances.

After winning a cover contest, Jack Long's name gradually became known. Since then, he has participated in performing in many tea rooms and has been supported by his family in the profession. However, in addition to singing, the male singer born in 1996 has to sell cakes online to earn more income.

"I accepted to perform with a low salary because I was a new face, sometimes treated with disrespect, and hated by my colleagues. I always think optimistically, strive to assert myself. I have never regretted my choice," he shared.

When he was just a toddler to sing, Jack Long faced many difficulties. He participated in a number of small contests and was hated by other contestants. The male singer was also squeezed when the amount received was lower than the previously agreed figure.

"I don't practice with the band, I just sing loudly. The performance was not attentive and well-groomed, so I felt disrespected. I try to have a foothold in the profession and if I am famous, I will support those who come after me, not treat them the way I used to suffer," he expressed.

For a long time, Jack Long has wanted to try his hand at a music competition. When he learned about The Ultimate Duet, he signed up to participate and passed the rounds with Khac Tung to win the runner-up position. For the male singer, this is a proud result. He is happy to be loved and encouraged by many people. "That is the motivation for me to strive more and more, launching many quality products," the male singer affirmed.

Jack Long admitted that he spent a lot of money and effort when participating in the Ultimate Duet, even though he was partially supported by the organizers. Even he and Khac Tung had to borrow to invest in props, costumes... The male singer said: "In addition to singing, I also make food to sell online at home to earn more income. I was supported by my friends in costumes and made it myself, taking advantage of everything I had to save costs."

When participating in The Ultimate Duet, Jack Long was loved by artists such as Thuy Trang, Cam Ly, To My... praised by her voice and bright appearance on stage. Highly appreciated, but the male contestant did not think he would be in the final. Realizing her strengths, the singer from An Giang put her emotions into the song, and at the same time refined her acting and vocal music through each round of the competition. "Even though we only finished second in the end, we are also very happy and proud," he said.

Previously, the male singer released a song inspired by his own difficult life as a child.

"The MV is inspired by my real life as a child. My family was poor, my mother made a living to support me by pouring beef cakes. I only fictionalized the part about the father who worked as a fisherman and died early in the MV to resemble the lyrics of the song. In fact, I still have my father and grandfather who sell candy.

The creditor is also a character I brought in from real life. In the past, my family also had to borrow and was in a situation where creditors came to the house to ask for it."

The male singer explained that he filmed the MV in his hometown of An Giang to express his love for the land where he was born. "The profession of making beef cakes is an idyllic profession that is not high, but it has raised me to grow up. In the future, no matter how famous I am, I will always remember the time of welding and never forget that I used to be a poor boy who grew up thanks to my mother's beef cakes and frequent merits.

Up to now, I have gone to Ho Chi Minh City to set up a career but still keep the traditional profession of my family. When I don't go to sing, I stay at home and pour beef cakes to sell. My beef cake is eaten and praised by many artists, making me very happy," said Jack Long.

During his artistic journey, Jack Long received the love of his uncle and colleagues. In particular, the famous singer Huong Lan once moved the flight to congratulate him on his MV. "Young people now sing young music according to their age and current trends. Therefore, having singers like Jack Long is precious," the female singer praised Jack Long.
