Hung Huynh has just officially released his first solo MV called "Can't Close My Eyes". It was thought to be a hot product but no, it quickly became the center of controversy among BTS fans.
On the evening of December 15, Hung Huynh released his first MV "Chang The Nham Mat", marking his official debut in Vietnam after Anh Trai Say Hi. Being in the top Anh Trai attracting fans of the show, the male singer who just released his MV quickly received a lot of attention. Especially when he also "collaborated" with Kewtiie - HIEUTHUHAI's "favorite" music producer right in the first product.
"Chang The Nham Mat" is Hung Huynh's debut song in Vpop after the show Anh Trai Say Hi, so the audience has high expectations. Many people are also looking forward to seeing what quality products this guy will bring to the Vietnamese music industry, from the things he learned at the Korean entertainment company.
However, when the official MV was released, Hung Huynh disappointed everyone because of the suspicion of "learning from" Jungkook. Many Kpop fans pointed out the similarities between "Chang The Nham Mat" and "Standing Next To You" of BTS's youngest member, especially in the musical style and image. Specifically, both songs have a pop-disco melody, inspired by the 80s, creating a space for the artist to show off his dancing ability.
The movements in Huynh Huynh's MV are said to be similar to what Jung Kook performed in "Standing Next To You". More importantly, the Vietnamese singer's appearance from the opening scene to the following parts is like a mold of the HYBE idol, making his fan community doubly angry. Many people also feel that "Chong The Nham Mat" is like a copy of "Standing Next To You".
On social networking forums, the ARMY community continuously reacted strongly to Hung Huynh because they thought he blatantly "plagiarized" Jungkook's MV. Not only stopping at comments, this wave of anger also exploded strongly on all fronts, causing the singer born in 1999 to fall into misery. Witnessing their idol being "attacked", his fans spoke up to defend and counterattack BTS fans, creating an endless chaos.
Amidst the heated controversy, Kewtiie made a move that could not be ignored. Accordingly, on the social networking platform Threads, this producer posted a photo of Michael Jackson with the caption: "It all started from here, what's so tense about it?"
Although not mentioned directly, everyone understood that Kewtiie was responding to the ARMYs who were angry about Hung Huynh "learning" from Jungkook. Because the Michael Jackson model that the male producer released was the inspiration for Jungkook in "Standing Next To You". Not only that, the male idol also recreated the famous choreography of the former "king of pop" in this MV.
At this time, ARMYs refuted Kewtiie's evidence, saying that the fact that Hung Huynh and Jungkook were both inspired by Michael Jackson does not mean there was copying. They condemned the GERDNANG member as a music producer for promoting the borrowing of ideas without renewing them, when Jungkook himself had recreated the spirit of Michael Jackson in a creative way and was praised by Diana Ros.
The focus of controversy gradually shifted to Kewtiie when ARMY "turned to condemn" the male producer on all platforms. After a few hours, he removed the post related to Michael Jackson. Instead, he continued to update about Jungkook's album "GOLDEN", and announced a giveaway for 6 lucky fans. This move once again "angered" BTS fans.
In this context, not only Hung Huynh but also HIEUTHUHAI was dragged into the controversy. A group of Vietnamese BTS fans called for a boycott of Hung Huynh and Kewtiie's music products on all platforms, putting both of them under great pressure. Kewtiie then had to lock his Threads account and remove the controversial posts.
Although there has been no official explanation from Hung Huynh or Kewtiie about these controversies, the incident has had a significant impact on the public image of both of them. Even the fact that Kewtiie was previously harshly criticized for allegedly copying the melody of Jung Kook's song "Seven" has been "excavated", raising concerns that this is not the first time he has encountered controversy related to excessive references from international artists.
