The inheritance dispute over the late artist Vu Linh continues to attract attention as Hong Loan reports the loss of the adoption certificate – a crucial document – causing the appeal hearing to be postponed and sparking much controversy.
The appeal trial concerning the inheritance dispute of the late artist Vu Linh continues to attract public attention as new details emerge surrounding adoption papers. The postponement of the trial further complicates the case, which has dragged on for many years, leaving it unresolved.
According to the court proceedings, immediately after the presiding judge announced a temporary adjournment of the trial, Ms. Le Hang, the lawyer representing Hong Phuong's family, requested permission to speak. She stated that Hong Loan's side had filed a report regarding the loss of important documents, including the adoption certificate of the late artist Vu Linh. In the lawyer's view, this is a crucial document that needs to be examined to clearly determine Hong Loan's legal standing in the inheritance dispute.
The representatives of the judicial panel then noted the lawyer's comments and stated that they would consider them in subsequent sessions. However, the absence of this crucial document is believed to potentially significantly impact the resolution of the case.
Previously, in a petition submitted to the High People's Court in Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Loan stated that she had lost all the documents related to the lawsuit, including those used in the first-instance trial. Not only did she report the loss, but Hong Loan also requested the court for more time to retrieve these important documents. Specifically, she asked for a 15-day extension to review and restore the files. However, by the time the appeal hearing took place on April 22nd, Hong Loan's side had still not been able to provide the adoption certificate as requested.
This development has caused considerable outrage among Hong Phuong's family. They argue that in the previous preliminary hearing, Hong Loan had presented documents confirming she was the late artist's adopted daughter, but now they claim these documents are lost. They believe this seriously impacts their ability to prove and protect their legal rights.
Hong Phuong herself expressed disappointment that the case was dragging on and unexpected developments were emerging. She stated that what the family wanted was a thorough examination of all relevant documents, especially regarding the legality of the adoption between the late artist Vu Linh and Hong Loan.
Sharing the same sentiment, artist Hong Nhung stated that the lawsuit has dragged on for the past three years, significantly impacting the lives of her family members. She expressed: "My brother, artist Vu Linh, hasn't had a single day of peace in the past three years because of this protracted lawsuit. My family and I want to clarify everything, including whether Hong Loan is my brother's legally adopted daughter."
On the part of lawyer Le Hang, she emphasized that her client's greatest wish was not the value of the inherited property, but rather to clarify Hong Loan's legal status. Meanwhile, after the trial was postponed, Hong Loan and her relatives quickly left the courtroom and did not give any response to the media. Currently, the inheritance dispute of the late artist Vu Linh is still ongoing, with many new details constantly emerging. The lack of crucial documents such as the adoption certificate is expected to continue to be a major sticking point, directly affecting the final outcome of the case.
