Hong Dao returns to cinema, plays a role that defies all to have a son to continue the family line?

Artist Hong Dao plays Me Bich - a special woman in the movie Linh Luc - Quy Nhap Trang which will be released to audiences on November 22. She is the eldest daughter-in-law in the family.

She is also the mother of two eldest sons, the "keeper of the keys" and the one who, together with her husband, manages the traditional ceramic inlay business.

Me Bich is known as the most powerful woman in the family. On the outside, she is cold and respectable, always respecting the traditional rules of the house, strictly maintaining family traditions and etiquette, but on the inside she is dominated by blind love. And because she loves the family's traditions so much, she turns that love into an extreme.

Describing her role, artist Hong Dao used three words: True - Love - Love. Explaining these words, artist Hong Dao expressed: "True because the feelings that Me Bich has for Duong Phuc's family, for her husband, her children, for the traditional ceramic inlay career of the communal house all come from true feelings, without selfishness. Love is the expression of a mother, because she loves her children and grandchildren so much, does not want anyone to harm the position of her children and grandchildren, so she plans. Love represents the respect for tradition and family style, so Me Bich wants to protect it by all means".

Sharing more about the character Me Bich, production and creative director Vo Thanh Hoa said: "The misfortunes, sufferings and tragedies in Duong Phuc's family were all created by this woman. But deep inside, she is just a woman who loves her children, her husband, her family and desires to protect the family tradition. The family tradition is that family matters must be decided by men, and the daughter-in-law and children only have to obey. That forms a strong male-dominated viewpoint, making her always want Duong Phuc's family to have a son to continue the family line."

Actress Hong Dao's real name is Nguyen Dinh Hong Dao, born in 1962 in Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province.

Regarding her career, artist Hong Dao shared that she had a passion for art since she was a child. At the age of 18, the female artist passed the entrance exam to the theater school.

Hong Dao's career began when the female artist participated in the play Nightingale Night in 1982 with Thanh Loc while she was a second-year student in the Faculty of Acting, Ho Chi Minh City University of Theatre and Cinema.

After graduating, Hong Dao joined the Young Drama Group, participating in the play I'm Waiting for the Director (1985) by Le Hoang. Stage 5B Vo Van Tan was also the place where the female artist flourished with plays in her early career such as: The House Without Men; Golden Chicken Dream; Thunderstorm... In addition, artist Hong Dao also participated in many movies. Hong Dao is also known as one of the drama artists of the golden generation in the 90s alongside names such as Thanh Loc and Hong Van at that time.

When her career was on the rise, Hong Dao officially left her homeland to immigrate to the US to reunite with her family in 1994. In the US, Hong Dao and her husband Quang Minh became a famous overseas comedy couple. Hong Dao's usual image on stage was Quang Minh's "mother", while Quang Minh played a homosexual.

Sharing about moving to the US to live and work, Hong Dao said that "everywhere will have pink and gray, not like what I imagined". The female artist admitted that in the early days in the US, she encountered many difficulties, but believed that "wherever I go, I have to work honestly" so she gradually adapted.

In 2010, Hong Dao - Quang Minh returned to Vietnam to act in the movie Gia dinh so do, from then on they appeared in many TV shows in Vietnam and worked in parallel in the arts from here.

In mid-July 2019, artist Hong Dao confirmed that she had divorced Quang Minh after 24 years of living together and having two daughters, causing many fans to regret. At that time, the female artist had to be hospitalized due to physical weakness.

"Many things happened to me. I just got out of a marriage after more than 20 years, and I just sent a close friend away forever. There were unexpected changes that left me bewildered. I realized that life never goes according to plan," the female artist skillfully shared about "going our separate ways" with Quang Minh.

After her divorce, artist Hong Dao quickly regained balance in her life by participating in film projects. The female artist left an impression on the audience with her confident acting and youthful, dedicated attitude on television shows.
