MTNewsToday news newspaper and a series of Myanmar media sites reported recently that rescuers found a young gir.l under the rubble of the Sky Villa apartment complex in Mandalay City, Myanmar after the recent earthquake.
Through the identification process, the identity of this gir.l has been determined. That is Sili me, the beauty who won the Miss Myanmar Tourism contest in 2018. She represented Myanmar at the Miss Tourism World 2018 pageant and Miss Intercontinental World 2019 in China.
The 28-year-old beauty graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration from Meiktila University of Economics (Myanmar).
It is known that after the beauty contest, Sili me joined the entertainment industry and volunteered very actively. She is loved by many colleagues.
Her last sharing line on social networks on March 24 read: "The older I get, the more I like my private life. I just want to let everyone on social networks know that" and another shared wrote: "I just want to see the people around me getting better and happier."
Not long before, on March 19, she happily shared a picture with her teacher and showed off her diploma from a basic flower arrangement class.
In the images Sili me shared on social networks, she shows a diverse, modern and elegant fashion personality. True to the title associated with tourism, Sili me spends most of her time exploring the beauty of Myanmar.
Sili me is interested in traditional Myanmar culture. She often takes photos at historical sites and architectural works imbued with national identity such as ancient temples with characteristic pointed roofs or ancient city walls.
On April 3, Blessed Entertainment - the organizer of Miss Myanmar Tourism - confirmed the information and sent condolences to the family of the beautiful Sili me. It is known that the funeral of Miss Myanmar Tourism 2018 will be held in the city of Yangon (Myanmar).
As soon as the news of Sili me's deat.h was shared, fans on social networks and Asian beauty forums sent their condolences to her family.
According to international media, the epicenter of the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that occurred on March 28 was located near Mandalay, Myanmar's second-largest city. The earthquake collapsed thousands of buildings, disrupted roads and damaged bridges in many areas.
Myanmar authorities said the deat.h toll from the earthquake had reached more than 3,000. In a brief statement, Myanmar authorities confirmed 4,715 people were injured and 341 were still missing, as of April 3.
Rescue teams continue to search and find more people. The earthquake was one of the most devastating natural disasters in Myanmar in years.
Against this backdrop, international aid organizations have warned of the risk of outbreaks, especially cholera and other infectious diseases, due to the harsh living conditions of survivors in temporary shelters. Ho.t weather and heavy rain are forecast to make the situation worse.
In hard-hit areas such as Mandalay, Sagaing and Myanmar's capital Naypyidaw, poor sanitation, lack of clean water and severely damaged health facilities make it more difficult to control the disease.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has prepared $1 million to provide relief, including essential medical supplies and medicines. Elena Vuolo, WHO Deputy Director-General for Myanmar, said a cholera warning had been issued, especially after a cholera outbreak in Mandalay in 2024.
The risk is worsened because half of the health care facilities in the areas affected by the earthquake have been destroyed. In addition to cholera, skin diseases, malaria and dengue fever are also a major risk to public health.
In particular, the unseasonal rains forecast from the end of last week to April 11 could exacerbate the situation, raising concerns about the outbreak of waterborne diseases.
