Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 officially gave "flying color" 2nd runner-up, choosing "main palace" to say less and do more

Recently, social media was abuzz with the news that Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 will not have a 2nd runner-up.

Specifically, at the press conference, Mr. Tran Viet Bao Hoang (head of the pageant organizing committee), said that the Miss Universe Vietnam contest has many notable new points. All spectators take on the role of official jury members, perform their roles through the voting portal, contribute to the jury to choose the winner of the contest.

Thus, the audience watching the show will be counted as a score of a member of the jury. In addition, the audience is also the one who votes for the most popular contestant. Instead of choosing the top 3 or top 5 like many beauty pageants, the Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 contest only selects the top 2 to advance directly to the interview round, to choose the miss and runner-up.

One of the most special features of the competition is that there is no 2nd runner-up to "reduce the name load" as shared by the organizers. The organizers also shared that "it is impossible to say in advance whether the miss can become a Vietnamese beauty in the international beauty arena or not because it depends on many factors".

In addition, Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 also renewed two familiar pageants and announced a new one.

The Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 online photo contest changed its format, contestants competed via TikTok and Capcut platforms.

The National Costume Design Selection Contest was upgraded to a national costume fashion show with a new format and name of the National Culture Promotion Project.

This year, the organizers implement a new contest within the framework of Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 , which is the Cosmo Mascot Design contest - Universal mascot design, representing the new image and look of the contest.

The Miss Universe Vietnam 2023 pageant, with the theme "Train Me", takes place from July 1 to December 23.

The preliminary round of the competition is scheduled for October 2023. The semifinals run from Nov. 1 to Dec. 23.

The organizers will select the top 60 contestants, participating in the reality TV show "I am Miss Universe Vietnam", scheduled to air in October 2023, on national television.

At the press conference, the organizers also announced two ambassadors and judges of this year's pageant, Miss H'Hen Nie and Miss Khanh Van.

Miss H'Hen Nie was touched by the love and trust of the audience for the Miss Universe Vietnam pageant. She said that thanks to this competition, she is becoming more and more perfect, becoming a useful person for the community.

Mr. Tran Viet Bao Hoang said that the success of the Miss Universe Vietnam contest comes from the internal strength of the team, the efforts of the contestants participating in the contest.

To the question of having another beauty pageant, Bao Hoang said that he understands the feeling of the audience, so he brings many new and strange things and is committed to not disappointing the audience.

Bao Hoang said the criteria for choosing a miss "Dare to speak, dare to do, say less, do more, do more than what you say".

Previously, Saigon Universe Joint Stock Company (Unicorp) announced the official international name of the Miss Universe Vietnam contest as Miss Cosmo Vietnam according to the decision granted by the Copyright Office.

At the same time, Unicorp announced the rights to the reality TV show I am MissUniverse Vietnam and the semi-final program - the final of Miss Universe Vietnam granted by the Copyright Office.

Thus, after a period of dispute over the name "Miss Universe Vietnam", Unicorp has been approved by the Copyright Office, granted the certificate of the name of the Miss Universe Vietnam contest with the international name Miss Cosmo Vietnam.

Previously, the dispute took place between Unicorp Company (Vietnam) and JKN Global Group (Thailand).

JKN claims they are the legal owners of the names Miss Universe Vietnam.

However, Unicorp affirmed that the name Miss Universe Vietnam belongs to them.

Unicorp believes that the protection of the Miss Universe organization in Vietnam only includes the brand name and English trademark Miss Universe.
