From the position of a famous beauty queen, actress, and MC, Anna has traded her halo for harsh days behind bars, facing a prison sentence for online lottery fraud, causing losses of up to 111 million baht.
Recently, a letter written by Anna from prison revealed part of the harsh life and hidden thoughts of this former star, leaving the public shocked and thoughtful.
From the pinnacle of fame to the depths of sin: A career in decline
Anna Warinthorn Watsang was born in 1984 in Nonthaburi Province, Thailand. She is widely known not only for her talent but also for her unique story â a transgender woman who has risen and achieved remarkable success in the competitive entertainment industry.
With her beautiful, charming appearance and fluent speaking ability, Anna quickly became a familiar face on the small screen. She has participated in many Thai TV dramas and is an MC for popular entertainment programs, building a large fan base and a solid position in showbiz.
However, the peak of her career did not keep Anna from staying purely in art. She began to venture into online business, a trend that is booming in Thailand. In particular, Anna focused on promoting the so-called "golden lottery box" through personal livestream platforms.
With her existing fame and influence as a beauty queen, actress, and MC, she easily attracted a large number of customers who trusted her and poured money into the promises of big prizes and life-changing luck. However, it was the public's blind trust that was the source of serious legal troubles and personal tragedies for the beauty later on.
The case came to light when the Thai Cyber Crime Suppression Department (TCSD) got involved. Anna was arrested for allegedly defrauding the public and entering false data into a computer system. According to the investigation, she was accused of organizing the sale of "golden lottery boxes" online, promising buyers would receive valuable prizes or high-end products after payment.
In reality, however, many victims transferred money but did not receive any of the promised products or prizes. In total, 119 victims filed complaints, with total losses amounting to more than 111 million baht (about $3.2 million) â a huge figure that shows the scale of the scam.
After investigation and trial, Anna was sentenced to prison by the Bangkok Criminal Court. Faced with clear and undeniable evidence from bank transactions and detailed testimony from hundreds of victims, the beauty decided not to appeal, accepting the truth about her crime. Currently, she is serving her sentence at a women's prison in Bangkok, where life is completely different from the spotlight and glitz of showbiz.
Confessions from behind bars: The harsh life in prison
Life in prison is a harsh ordeal for anyone, but especially for someone who has lived in luxury and attention like Anna Warinthorn Watsang. After 9 months of serving her sentence, a letter sent by Anna revealed part of her harsh life and thoughts in prison.
In her letter, Anna shared that just a few months after being imprisoned, she had lost 10 kg, a clear sign of the effects of the harsh living environment and different diet. Along with the physical changes, Anna also faced mental exhaustion, a high price for life behind bars. This shows that, even for a celebrity, prison life is cruel and without exception.
Amidst these difficulties, Anna expressed her deep gratitude to those who remained by her side and supported her, especially Nawat Itsaragrisil, President of Miss Grand Thailand. He was revealed to have paid for many of Anna's essential expenses while in prison, an extremely valuable act of support that she called "Anna chose Mr. Nawat and I was right".
This statement not only shows gratitude but also implicitly compares the MGI President with others who abandoned her: "Many people come like saints, but only ask me what assets I have left". The transgender beauty queen also did not forget to mention other colleagues who supported her: "It's been 9 months. The people who are still here are Ice, Je Kan, Nara, Meena Ravisara, Buay, Pu. They are my main supporters".
In the letter, Anna also expressed her hopes for the future, albeit fragile: "When I get out, I will gather with the beauty queens again." This promise shows her desire to return to normal life, to stand next to her old friends in the role that once belonged to her. Finally, she sent a message to the victims, asking them to "follow the case at the Technology Crime Prevention Department (TCSD)", partly expressing her acceptance and desire for everything to be resolved thoroughly.
Mr. Nawat accused former MGI of having strange hobbies, often touching male employees, including LGBT.
