Launched on November 22, just a month after Power, Home Sweet Home has garnered significant attention, topping many charts despite its surprise release. The song also features BIGBANG members Taeyang and Daesung.
The song Home Sweet Home conveys a heartfelt message about returning to their "sweet home" â the fans â and emphasizes that they have never truly left, creating a deep resonance with listeners.
However, according to IZE on December 4, KBS announced the results of its music evaluation, declaring the song Home Sweet Home ineligible for broadcasting. KBS cited the reason for the disqualification as the lyrics violated Article 46 of the Broadcast Evaluation Regulations, restricting advertising effects, due to references to specific product brands. This case is similar to Jennie's Mantra.
Songs deemed ineligible by KBS may be resubmitted for review after editing or removing the problematic content. Only after approval can the song be played on KBS programs, including TV and radio.
Meanwhile, other songs were also deemed ineligible in KBS's latest music review, including Ksher's Isu Station, Moon Chan-young's Jump Over the Wall, Unchained Tiger's Accidentally Want to Succeed, and ONiLL's Day Trip, all of which violated the same rule by referring to specific product brands.
After the above statement of KBS, G-Dragon has not made a move on whether or not to edit the content of the song Home Sweet Home nor has there been any response to the above information.
Home Sweet Home was also performed by G-Dragon with Taeyang and Daesung on the stage of the MAMA 2024 cult awards ceremony at the end of November. This performance was considered the explosive performance of the award night and received many applause. Fans turned MAMA's sea of blue-themed lightsticks into a vibrant yellow tribute, mirroring BIGBANG's iconic crown lightstick.
It is rumored that it was Power's fierce appearance at the end of October and the spread of this song that then caused MAMA to create a new award to bring the leader of BIGBANG to the stage. G-Dragon was honored with the "Music Visionary of the Year" trophy. And then, with G-Dragon's explosive performance as well as the group's performance - and BIGBANG's 2 members, Taeyang and Daesung - it is said that this year's MAMA attracted a record number of viewers thanks to G-Dragon.
It can be seen that it is no longer strange that new songs in Kpop are banned from airing. Previously, Jennie's song was also refused to be put on Korean TV.
Specifically, KBS announced that Jennie's ( BlackPink) Mantra and Jaehyun's (NCT) Unconditional were excluded from 1 broadcast.
The reason given is that the two songs violate Article 46 of the Regulation on Broadcast Censorship, which restricts advertising effects. Specifically, the new lyrics of Jennie and Jaehyun were found to mention the brand name.
Jennie's mantra refers to brands such as the Defender and In-N-Out Burger, with chants like 'We drive past In-N-Out,'" the statement reads.
However, according to KBS, this is not a permanent ban. The station may reconsider the broadcast if problematic segments are corrected or removed.
Mantra is Jennie's first single as a solo artist after leaving YG Entertainment and starting her own company. The song carries the message of encouraging listeners to confidently shine in their own unique way.
This is not the first time KBS has banned a song featuring Jennie. When BlackPink's Pink Venom debuted in 2022, it was also not aired on national radio due to the mention of a specific brand.
