The Miss Universe DR Congo organization shocked the beauty industry when it officially announced the dethronement of Déborah Djema - the new Miss Universe Republic of the Congo 2025 after just over half a month of being crowned.
According to the published statement, the main reason why Déborah Djema was stripped of the crown was her refusal to sign an official contract with the organizers. The beauty said that the terms in the contract were inappropriate and could affect personal interests. However, the Miss Universe DR Congo organization affirmed: "This behavior violates the regulations of Miss Universe and may directly affect the right to participate in international competitions of the Republic of Congo" .
From the time of announcing the decision, Déborah is no longer allowed to use or associate with any title, symbol, or image of Miss Universe DR Congo. This includes the use of crowns, ribbons, logos or images that appear with other Misses and artists.
The organizers also issued an ultimatum, within 48 hours, Déborah must remove all content related to the title on social networks. If she does not comply, she may be handled according to the law on intellectual property rights, even sued.
Déborah Djema, 26 years old, was crowned Miss Universe Congo 2025 on August 22, and won the right to represent the country at Miss Universe 2025 to be held in Thailand in November. However, after less than half a month, the dream of wearing the crown has ended, making fans regret.
The beauty owns an outstanding height of 1.8m with a personality and confident charisma. She is an international strategic consultant, and is currently studying for a master's degree in Digital Business and E-Commerce at the European Business School Paris (France).
Déborah is fluent in many languages such as English, French, German, Lingala, and Pidgin. She is also the founder of DJEMAG â a media platform that celebrates women's intellect and promotes entrepreneurship in Africa. With an impressive academic background and meaningful community activities, Déborah was once expected to bring a new look to Congo sash in the international arena.
Few people know that, behind the glory, Déborah had a lost childhood. Orphaned from a young age, she grew up in many different countries, exposed to many diverse cultures. It was this experience that helped Déborah form a strong, independent personality and a desire to assert herself. Before being crowned Miss Universe DR Congo, she won the title of Miss Africa France.
With her journey to overcome difficulties and outstanding personal achievements, the beauty is considered an inspirational role model for young Africans, especially girls who nurture their dreams of studying and establishing an international career.
The fact that Déborah was stripped of the crown made the beauty fan community regret a talent of the Republic of Congo. Last year, the country's representative, Ilda Amani, attended Miss Universe 2024 in Mexico but did not achieve any achievements. Therefore, many people once expected Déborah, with education and careful preparation, to help Congo make a mark at Miss Universe 2025.
However, due to contract controversies, this dream was shattered in the blink of an eye. Currently, the organizers of Miss Universe DR Congo have not announced who will replace Déborah in the international competition. Meanwhile, she herself has not given any official response to the decision to dethrone.
