'Jackie Chan's rival' Hong Kong martial arts 'villain' actor, dies of cancer

Hong Kong actor Tsui Siu-keung - famous for his series of martial arts films in the 1970s and 1980s - died of esophageal cancer, and his wife also died after arranging his funeral.

According to Oriental Daily on September 15, the artist passed away earlier this month in Beijing, China, at the ag.e of 74. Director Tian Kai-man, hea.d of the Hong Kong Filmmakers Association, said that the family had only just announced the sad news because of the confusion over the past period of mourning. He was born in 1950 in Hong Kong, entered the film industry in 1972, initially as a "long ho martial artist" (referring to those who specialize in dangerous stunts in action movies). After that, the actor played the main role in many movies, including the role of Trieu Chieu in That Hiep Ngu Nghia (1976), Thien Tam Bien (as Van Phi Duong, who practiced Thien Tam Than Cong).

In the 1980s and 1990s, the artist mainly played villain roles, appearing in The Legend of the Condor Heroes, The Romance of Sui and Tang, The Butler, The Legend of Wu Zhen, Wudang 2, The Return of the Condor Heroes 1998, and The Beggar King.
