In 1999, the Vietnamese entertainment world once emerged four singers named Truong and loved by the public with the nickname "Four Heavenly Kings" including: Lam Truong, Dan Truong, Doan Truong, and Van Truong. After 23 years, Van Truong settled in the US, lived a private life and completely withdrew from the arts. Lam Truong and Dan Truong are still hot names with the audience every time they appear.

Particularly, Doan Truong is still inside and out with the profession after declaring "early retirement". Not as active as Lam Truong and Dan Truong, but Doan Truong still attracts the public's attention for his peaceful life after two broken marriages and uses his passion for travel to fill his loneliness.

All 3 generations of Doan Truong's family, from his grandmother, his parents to him, live in a house on Truong Dinh street. Doan Truong's paternal grandmother was a dressmaker and passed the profession on to his mother. During elementary, middle and high school, Doan Truong studied at Le Quy Don school. Doan Truong is very proud of his long-standing school. It was also the place where he studied, graduated and stepped into the musical path when he took an exam and won the first prize at the HCMC Student Singing Festival, in 1985. That award was also the first step to becoming a musician. Doan Truong entered the musical path later.

Doan Truong's house is near the Labor Culture Palace. In the past, when he was in high school, because his family was poor, he used to go there to keep the car and arrange the cars for people who went to the concert every night. At the beginning of the hour, after keeping the car for customers, Doan Truong turned around to Huyen Tran Cong Chua Street, at that time the wall had not yet been built, but just bushes and then went into the "dog hole" to look at the stage or ask the guards to protect him. watch the show after assisting them to check the tickets.

In the 80s and 90s, Doan Truong's family was very poor. I think, if you want to get out of poverty, you have to study well. With that will, Doan Truong made continuous efforts to study and passed the valedictorian exam at the University of Science and Technology. After that, he received a full state scholarship to study in Russia and returned with a Master's degree in chemistry.

At the restaurant where Doan Truong works, there is a music stage. By chance, a guest requested a song that no one could perform. He asked the manager to let him sing. From then on, he did not have to work as a waiter anymore, but sang.

"When I was in Russia, I was a well-known singer. I worked as a show host, organized a lot of shows. I was the first to organize a Miss Vietnamese contest in Russia, inviting Ms. Cam Van, Mr. Khac Trieu. Uncle Bao Quoc and overseas artists went to Russia to perform. I stayed in Russia for about 8 years and then returned to Vietnam. When I returned home, I had to start over because people didn't know me. At that time, I had just left. working for a foreign corporation, while singing," recalled Doan Truong.

At the end of the 90s, the flower song "Kiep Cicada" was extremely popular. At that time, all four singers Lam Truong, Dan Truong, Doan Truong and Van Truong sang this song at the same time, each with a different version, making the audience extremely curious and interested and gave the nickname "Four" great heavenly king".

"At that time, artists loved each other very much. Dam Vinh Hung was sick and asked this person to sing for him. At that time, I was still poor and could not buy furniture. All my clothes and jewelry were owned by Dam Vinh Hung. for, Lam Chi Khanh for, Hoang Thanh for, Phuong Thanh for, MTV for...".

Being famous, Doan Truong suddenly stopped singing about 10 years in a row. For others, this is a difficult event to overcome, but Doan Truong admits that he can never be sad . "I'm the one who can pick it up and put it down. In my head, there are always two words: Well, let it go. I love my job but I don't care about it. I don't open my mouth to sing, nor do I open my mouth to ask for shows. Life around us is full of choices and opportunities.So, I don't feel sad when I fail at something.

I have no ambition. In anything, work or singing career, even if I get 7.8, I'm happy. I don't want to become a star, I just want to sing for my passion, but fortunately, I'm satisfied with everyone's knowledge," Doan Truong shared.

Currently, Doan Truong has retired early both work in foreign corporations and rarely sing. Regarding private life, Doan Truong has gone through two broken marriages. Once he did not want to get married, now he is looking for a life partner to rely on in old age. "My father has 3 wives, my mother is the 3rd wife, so I often wonder if I am like him. I am obsessed with it, so I just let it be," the male singer said.

About two broken marriages, the male artist confided to MC Ngoc Lan at "Knock at the door": "I have been divorced twice, the reason is that I do not want to settle abroad but want to stay in Vietnam. I admit that at that time, I was too passionate about running the show, taking care of my family's food and money, but neglecting my personal happiness."
