Ms. Ba Huan's real name is Pham Thi Huan (born in 1954) in Chau Thanh district, Long An. Chairman of the Board of Directors - Ba Huan Co., Ltd., admired by many people as "duck seed queen".
The first few days were difficult selling eggs to help the family
Ms. Ba Huan was born into a poor family with 8 siblings in Vinh Dong commune, the poorest commune in Long An province, and had to give up her education in the 4th grade.
Since the age of 13, Mrs. Ba Huan has been carrying a pair of baskets and following her mother to the market. There are 8 brothers and sisters in the family, and she is the only one who helps buy and sell chicken eggs and duck eggs in the lower reaches of the Tien River.
When she was 16 years old, her mother taught her the profession with little capital. At that time, competing with Chinese traders in the region was not easy. A young woman alone with little capital, she had to travel to every duck farming field in the West to buy at the root and sell at the top.
Thanks to her business acumen, she increasingly gathered more and more favors from farmers and customers.
Gradually, the demand grew, she went to provinces from Long An to Kien Giang to collect and transport to Ho Chi Minh City for distribution. In 1985, Ms. Ba Huan established her own poultry egg barn in Cho Lon and formed the Ba Huan egg brand.
Exporting poultry eggs to many countries around the world
After a period of good business, in 2001, the businesswoman boldly upgraded her poultry egg barn to a business: Ba Huan Company Limited.
From then on, poultry products and Ba Huan poultry egg business have become a familiar name to consumers throughout the country. Not only that, Ba Huan egg products are also exported to Hong Kong (China), Singapore, and Malaysia markets.
In 2003, before the H5N1 bird flu crisis, many farming families with traditional chicken and duck egg farms suddenly went bankrupt. Unable to bear that tragedy, Ms. Ba Huan traveled throughout Europe and Asia and stopped at the Dutch MOBA Group - which has the world's leading egg processing equipment.
She decided to invest in an automated technology line, processing clean eggs up to 99.9% according to international standards with a capacity of 65,000 eggs/hour. In 2009, due to growing demand, the company purchased a second egg processing machine with double the capacity: 120,000 eggs/hour.
Ba Huan's breakthrough has regained the trust of consumers, not only that, but also has wide access to large supermarkets. In addition to eggs, Ba Huan also provides fresh chicken, sausage, chicken floss, chicken eggs, quail, boiled duck, egg powder, flan, and some fast food products from chicken.
Currently, Ba Huan is one of the largest poultry egg suppliers in the country with an estimated market share of about 30% and has accompanied the market stabilization program in Ho Chi Minh City for nearly 20 years. In Ho Chi Minh City alone, the business supplies about 1 million poultry eggs every day.
International female farmers
In 2016, Ms. Ba Huan became the first Vietnamese female "farmer" to receive the international "Typical Farmer" award from FAO in the Asia-Pacific region.
In 2017, Ms. Ba Huan was voted by Forbes magazine as one of the 50 most influential women in Vietnam and was dubbed the "Duck Queen".
Previously, on October 19, 2012, in the United States, businesswoman Pham Thi Huan was honored to be selected and awarded "100 outstanding women" by The International Alliance for Women. of the year 2012".
Recently, Ms. Pham Thi Huan said she decided to give 25% of the shares to the young partner to run the company, set new directions, and accompany the company to develop and expand export markets.
The reason given by Ms. Huan is that although she has a lot of experience in the market, she is nearly 70 years old so it is difficult to keep up with new trends.
At the same time, she confided that being a family company forever will not be suitable and difficult to grow with the future agricultural development orientation when current foreign corporations invest a lot in Vietnam. That's why she wants young people to bring in a new breeze to increase interaction and competition in the market.
Along with the share sale agreement, Ms. Huan also asked the partner to sign a commitment to maintain the company's Ba Huan brand for at least 50 years from the date of signing the contract. In addition, the company continues to participate in market stabilization programs, ensuring the rights of customers and partners.
In particular, Ms. Huan emphasized that the change of executive did not cause any disturbance within the company. Her family members and all employees still stay with the business. Choosing an outsider to run is entirely for the benefit of the company.
Life without entertainment
In everyday life, Mrs. Ba Huan is a mother, she is a very good role model for her children and grandchildren. She is a model of a woman dedicated to her work. Perhaps that's why she has almost no time for entertainment.
She once shared: "I don't entertain myself. I only go to charity, that's when I entertain."
