Angelina Jolie - Brad Pitt almost met at the same event, the organizer immediately arranged it

Hollywood's most controversial couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been in a legal dispute over their marriage for years. Amidst the tension, the two almost ran into each other at the Film Festival, forcing the organizers to quickly settle the matter.

The 81st Venice International Film Festival officially opened on August 28 on the island of Venice Lido (Italy). A special feature of this year's film festival season is the participation of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, marking the first time the former couple appeared at the same event since their separation in 2016.

For the world's media, the sight of the two Mr. and Mrs. Smith stars meeting is a huge attraction. However, the possibility of this happening in Venice is almost zero because the organizers have planned in advance to help them promote the film smoothly.

In an interview with Vanity Fair on August 15, Alberto Barbera, artistic director of the Venice Film Festival, said that the organizers paid special attention to arranging the screening schedules of Angelina and Brad's films so that they did not overlap.

"Angelina attended on Thursday (August 29) and she will leave shortly after with Pablo Larraín (director of Maria) to attend the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado (USA). Brad arrives in Venice on Saturday (August 31). So there is no way they can meet at the Lido," Barbera revealed.

Page Six's source added that the two Hollywood stars did not ask the festival to space out their screenings. "None of them wanted that. They're smart enough to know that," the insider stressed.

Angelina Jolie was in Italy on August 28 to promote the movie Maria. In the movie, the 1975-born action star plays opera legend Maria Callas. The movie starring Angelina is on the list of nominees for the Golden Lion. Meanwhile, Brad and co-star George Clooney are scheduled to appear on the red carpet on September 1 to introduce the movie about the killer Wolfs. The movie is not in the competition.

The two actors were spotted together at the 2007 Venice Film Festival to support Brad's film, The Assassination of Jessie James by the Coward Robert Ford. However, they have been feuding since Angelina filed for divorce in 2016.

After 8 years, despite being legally single, Angelina and Brad are still not officially divorced. They have not reached an agreement on child custody, and there is also a lawsuit related to their joint property in France, the Château Miraval winery.

The bitterness has also extended to the couple's children. Most of the Jolie-Pitt children have dropped their father's name, with Shiloh being legally recognized.
