Much of the trial focused on money issues: loss, wasteful spending, and for those watching, they wondered how this couple had spent so much money in such a short time.

And while most of the attention has been focused on Johnny Depp and how he lost his fortune, Amber Heard shared a revelation that is also worthy of attention. At the beginning of her opening testimony, she confirmed that she lived in Yucca Valley, California. Not in a luxurious mansion or a million-dollar mansion, but instead in an abandoned house with arid surroundings, no shopping center nearby and a small population.

According to Dirt.com, Amber Heard's name does not appear on the home's deed, but rather the property was purchased through a trust affiliated with Heard. The 2.4 hectare (6 acres), built in 2015, was purchased in 2019 for $570,000.

Marketplace reports that the Covid-19 pandemic caused homes in the California desert to skyrocket. The publication explains that desert homes have increased in value in part due to people's ability to work remotely.

Yucca Valley is a town with a population of approximately 20,000, located in San Bernardino County. The nearest place is Joshua Tree National Park - which is famous for U2's album of the same name.

Although the house was purchased in 2019, Dirt.com reports that Amber Heard has only recently moved in. The New York Post speculated that Heard used the house as a hideout to get away from all the media attention she faced during her defamation trial.

A source also revealed to British media that Amber Heard loves the desert and has used it as a getaway.

The house has three bedrooms, three bathrooms and is located on 24,300 square meters of land. Inside there is an open plan kitchen, a dining area with vaulted ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that offer views of the surrounding desert.

The master bedroom has a spa-style bathtub that allows for a luxurious bath. The house also has a large yard, a garage that can accommodate up to five cars and is finished in the typical wood of an abandoned house.

The property has a bridge over 34m long, allowing people to cross a dry creek and reach an elevated structure on top of a hill. The house has low-E aluminum windows to keep cool in the hot summer.

The house also has solid iron front doors and thermostatic valves in the shower and tub.
