The actress said she did not know why James Franco was at her house that day, but then changed her answer when questioned by her lawyer.
According to People, on May 17 (local time), the trial of the lawsuit between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard for defamation took place at Fairfax court (Virginia, USA). The Aquaman star continued to confront lawyer Camille Vasquez - Depp's legal representative in the cross-examination.
Here, Camille Vasquez questioned Heard about the actress changing the house lock while she had filed a restraining order with Depp to avoid domestic violence.
Heard said she was always in a state of exhaustion and panic every time Depp appeared in the house. In addition, access is not allowed, but building staff can still open the door for Depp to enter the two's residence.
"Why did James Franco appear in her house on the evening of May 22, 2016,?", the female lawyer asked. "I don't know about James Franco coming to my house," Heard replied.
Then, attorney Camille Vasquez played a video extracted from the camera in the elevator at Heard's house. In it, there is a scene where Heard rests his head on James Franco's shoulder and the two step out of the elevator at 11 pm on May 22, 2016. James Franco then wore a backpack, a hat, and a mask covering his face.
Before the evidence from Depp's side, the actress admitted that Franco was at her home on the evening of May 22, 2016.
"He was my friend. He was always by my side. To be honest, I had no support from my close friends at that time," Heard told the court.
Heard added that in the past, Depp was always jealous and suspected her of having an affair with Franco. The Hollywood star accused her ex-husband of calling her a "slut" just because she considered joining a project with James Franco.
"He hated James Franco and accused me of secretly having an affair with Franco since the time we both starred in the movie Pineapple Express," the actress said.
The day after taking Franco to his own home, Heard filed for divorce from Depp.
James Franco has been entangled in many allegations of promiscuous sexual behavior. In an interview on The Jess Cagle Podcast, the actor admitted that he struggled to overcome his sex addiction.
"I used to have a girlfriend but I could not be faithful to anyone. I cheated on many people before coming to my girlfriend Isabel Pakzad," Franco shared.
At the same trial, Camille Vasquez presented a series of photos of Amber Heard taken shortly after the alleged violence. In the images, Heard shows no bruises or other marks on his body.
"There wasn't any damage to her face," Johnny's attorney said, citing Heard's testimony. Heard previously talked about being beaten by Johnny "to the point of nosebleeds when wearing big rings". The court was then shown a number of photos allegedly taken during the trip, after the violence broke out and in the photos, there was no visible damage to Heard's face.
After Johnny's lawyer released the photos, Amber Heard replied, "You'll see what it looks like under makeup."
Amber Heard completed her direct testimony earlier on Monday, saying she ultimately decided to leave Depp because she feared she wouldn't be able to survive the relationship.
Depp testified last month that Heard was the one who abused him and that he often ran away whenever their confrontation turned bitter. Vasquez pursued that topic as early as when the trial resumed on Monday. The lawyer questioned Amber: "Mr. Depp was your victim, wasn't he?" and Amber denied it. with the answer "no".
Vasquez also asked Heard about the lack of contemporary medical records that could document the abuse but Heard said she did not seek medical attention after Depp allegedly raped her with a bottle during a trip to Australia in 2015.
"I don't want to tell anyone," Amber said.
Vasquez also questioned Heard's claim that she donated her $7 million divorce settlement to two charities: Children's Hospital Los Angeles and the American Civil Liberties Union Ky. Earlier in the trial, the ACLU's general counsel testified that the organization received only $1.3 million of the $3.5 million pledged, including $500,000 from an account linked to Elon Musk, who dated Heard after she broke up with Depp.
Previously, Heard made a public statement after the divorce, in which she claimed to have donated the entire amount from her divorce with Johnny Depp. On checking in person, she said she wasn't able to make all the payments because Depp sued her but she plans to fulfill the pledge over time. Amber also said the lawsuit cost her more than $6 million - although that testimony was dropped due to objections.
On double-checking, Vasquez noted that more than a year had passed from the time Heard received the final payment from the divorce settlement to the time Depp sued her. Vasquez also repeatedly tried to get Heard to admit that she was lying when she said she had donated the entire amount. But Heard insists she is "committed" and "donated".
Heard says she's being accused of being a miner and a liar, and so it's important she wants to make it clear that she doesn't want anything from Depp. When Johnny's lawyer asked, "You wanted something, didn't you?", Amber Heard said: "I didn't want anything and I got nothing."
"You want Mr. Depp's money?" - Johnny's lawyer asked and Amber Heard replied: "Never mind that. I love Johnny. That's why I'm with him."
