Ahn So Hee: Kbiz's illustrious "national sister", impressive acting, Son Ye Jin's "aunt on her husband's side"

Ahn So Hee is an actress and former member of Wonder Girls. At just debuting for about 1 year, Sohee has risen to the national rank and become an idol loved by people's families in Korea.

She is the first idol of a K-pop group to be dubbed the "Nation's Sister". From a young age, Ahn So Hee showed her talent, and when she was just 12 years old, she was selected to become a JYP trainee after participating in auditions. After two years of training in 2007, she debuted in the entertainment industry as a member of the group Wonder Girls. After forming, the group she participated in released many hit songs such as "Nobody", "So hot", "Tell me" became a fever all over the country as well as countries in Asia.

K-pop fans will recognize her as the fresh-faced maknae (youngest member) of the legendary girl group Wonder Girls. Ahn So Hee made her debut in 2007 and their hit song " Tell Me" catapulted 14-year-old Ahn So Hee to global stardom. The act of "Omona!" even went viral because of its natural "aegyo" and cute expression, eventually earning So Hee the title of National Sister.

Besides being a singer, she is also a model for various fashion magazines. In 2011, Ahn So Hee was participating in "Vision of Beauty", an advertising campaign for Lancome's newest cosmetic line, Visionnaire. She was praised by the Lancome staff, who noted that she was "naturally confident", and used a "stunning range of facial expressions", as well as for the maturity she displayed while filming.

In February 2012, Ahn So Hee was chosen as a model for the fashion brand Tommy Hilfiger Denim. Along with her success as a singer and model, she is also quite successful with her acting career. Ahn So Hee began her acting career at the age of 14 with a small role in a short film The Synesthesia For Overtone Construction directed by Yu Dae-eol in 2004.

In early 2008, Ahn So Hee debuted on the big screen with the lead role alongside Lee Mi-sook and Kim Min-hee in the film Hellcat, which revolves around a modern Korean girl who must watch other people's attitudes in order to be able to love and live. During the filming of Hellcat, Ahn So Hee had to sit still for a month after tearing knee ligaments in a fall from a moving motorcycle.

In 2008, Ahn So Hee and Kim Hye-seong were appointed ambassadors of the 2nd Seoul Family International Film Festival (SIFFF).

In May 2010, Ahn So Hee announced that she would be joining the Wonder Girls for a cameo role in the drama The Last Godfather, which was filmed in Los Angeles.

In 2012, she starred with members of the Wonder Girls in the TV movie "The Wonder Girls on TeenNick". It was their first television series in the United States.

In 2013, KBS representatives revealed, "Ahn So Hee will be appearing in Happy Day Rose! Next to Jung Woong-in, it's a drama about a 20-year-old girl who works at a flower shop." The drama special was produced by director Kim Young-jo, who has also worked on 'Cinderella Sister' and 'Hong Gil-dong'. This drama will be Ahn So Hee's first leading role.

Despite leaving the group in 2013, Ahn So Hee's friendship with the members is as strong as ever. Ahn So Hee's social media page was flooded with photos with Sunmi and Sunye. She also attended Hyerim's wedding in 2020 along with the other members.

Although Ahn So Hee debuted as an actress in 2004 and starred in various large and small films, she only began to receive attention for her lead role in the hit zombie drama Train To Busan. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2016.

Ahn So Hee is honored to collaborate with seniors in the profession such as Gong Yoo, Ma Dong Seok, and Choi Woo Shik. Since then, Ahn So Hee has continued to receive offers to act in several dramas such as Entourage and Welcome To Waikiki 2. Ahn So Hee also appeared in the JTBC drama "Thirty, Nine," starring alongside Son Ye Jin. She received positive reviews from audiences for her role as Kim So Won, a pianist, the younger sister of Kim Seon Woo (played by actor Yeon Woo Jin).

Kim Seon Woo is a 39-year-old dermatologist who has returned to South Korea after a long time living in the United States. During his work at the new hospital, he becomes increasingly attracted to dermatologist Cha Mi Jo (Son Ye Jin). Therefore, Ahn So Hee will be her sister-in-law.

Ahn So Hee talked about her initial hesitation to pursue acting in an interview with W Korea:

"Acting is about showing what can happen to the people we see around us. Maybe it's because I've spent almost half my life preparing for the stage and been on stage since I was a kid so I'm lacking in expressing my daily life.

I want to be an actor who can express myself naturally no matter what form I act. Even if I take on a unique character that isn't popular, there's still a way to express the character naturally."

Ahn So Hee owns a YouTube channel with a variety of interesting content from skincare, makeup, fashion, dieting, and even fitness vlogs. She opened the channel in 2020 in hopes of sharing more about her true self with the public:

"It's been a long time since I thought about having a YouTube channel. I realized that I was exposed to the audience as an actor and member of Wonder Girls but not Ahn So Hee. I think it's easier for people to accept my acting in any kind of character if they know who I am in everyday life."

When Ahn So Hee made a guest appearance on Knowing Brothers, Heechul revealed that he is not only a big fan of So Hee, but she is also his ideal type!

Entering his acting career, the public commented that many films are increasingly attractive and successful thanks in part to Ahn So Hee's efforts. It can be seen that Ahn So Hee is a talented actress. Hopefully, in the future, she will be invited by many directors and broadcasters to star and leave more marks.
