Currently, aespa fans are still very angry because of the unprofessional work of the management company and the event organizer.
The aespa group is a rookie of Kpop, but the charm and growth are outstanding and quickly gained strong popularity. Because of that, aespa's performance schedule has also increased and the number of fans has also increased. However, the 4 girls also encountered unwanted harassment from their own audience during a recent event.
Back on May 2, aespa performed as a special guest at an event celebrating the founding of Kyungbok school. After the performance, when the group was about to leave the stage, aespa was surrounded by male students.
Due to the lack of tight security, the aespa was stuck and unable to advance for a while. More notably, male students were seen taking pictures and with aespa members without permission.
The aespa members almost fell into a mess, attacks from the audience. During this process, some students not only pointed their cameras to try to take pictures of the girls, but also tried to hold their hands to initiate skinship. The incident quickly spread on social media and the wave of criticism from the fandom aespa also began to peak.
The representative of the organizer, Kyungbock School, also posted an apology to aespa on the official website for this incident, but it was quite superficial and did not have the heart to make people angry.
The school said that the incident happened due to a group of students posing as school students.
"After this incident, the media reported and accidentally damaged the reputation of SM Entertainment and aespa, we deeply apologize. However, according to the results of the investigation to the students After being reported by the media, we discovered that some outsiders who were not students at the school attended the event, but were not allowed in for safety reasons. It is inferred that, as a result of that incident, malicious false articles were published on some social media".
However, Gyeongbok school has faced more serious criticism because people believe that the school is taking action to cover up male students and is not responsible for aespa.
The Gyeongbok school later removed the post and posted a second apology:
"Today, the 101st anniversary was held in the main auditorium of the school organized by the Gyeongbok Alumni Association. The ceremony featured a performance by the aespa band. However, after this event, we I sincerely apologize for the incident that inadvertently damaged SM Entertainment and aespa's reputation.
Although we tried to maintain order of the performance, some students were not mature enough, and after the event, photos and posts about the performance caused a stir on social media. The school will work to prevent this from happening again by organizing performance related education, cyber culture and sex education for all students immediately. We apologize once again for causing harm to SM Entertainment and group aespa after today's event."
After apologizing twice, but it still did not make Aespa fans less angry when apologizing, but the school sent a message to the group asking to delete the video about the incident.
The school also only talked about preventing the incident from happening again, but how to handle it, it was not clear.
Besides, fans also voiced a lot of criticism for SM's management. The security is lax, there are not many bodyguards to accompany and the main manager is a female without a male to deal with and protect the aespa members.
In this regard, many media outlets are trying to contact SM Entertainment to hear back from the company, but have yet to receive any information. Currently, fans and some netizens are still trending on Twitter to hope that the company will take reasonable action to protect and regain the honor of aespa.
