Woojin is one of the most noisy K-pop idols in the entertainment industry of kimchi. The festival culminated in him being accused of being a pregnant female fan. The story was so serious that JYP's agency was forced to kick out Stray Kids.
Woojin is a former Stray Kids idol, born in 1997 whose full name is Kim Woojin, under JYP. In October 2019, although Woojin was taking on the position of main vocalist in Stray Kids, JYP suddenly announced that Woojin was leaving the group due to personal reasons. This is considered one of the mysterious departures of K-Pop when Stray Kids at that time was having certain success and had not been involved in any major scandals since their debut.
Of course, there has been much speculation about why Woojin left the group after JYP Ent's vague announcement. The members' aloof attitude towards Woojin as well as rumors of the former idol making an unforgivable mistake and making a fansite master pregnant made fans doubt his personality.
On September 7, 2020, rumors of Woojin being accused of harassment suddenly rampaged on social media. An anonymous social media account X has accused a former Big 3 male idol "W" of using her former group's fame to approach her at a bar. When she refused, "W" tried to harass and touch at least two other girls in the bar at the time. The account also claimed that Chinese fans of idol "W" also knew about this person's behavior but deliberately hid it because of the group's reputation.
Another account reported the same incident when it was revealed that on April 29, 2020, the idol bought a bottle of whiskey and tried to flirt with her at a bar. This person constantly talks about his popularity despite the girl's lack of interest. Finally, when she tried to leave, she was pulled back by the male idol and made her scream in panic.
After a series of unfavorable rumors directed at him, Woojin quickly denied it. Woojin said he had never met the accuser nor had he ever been to the bar in question. The idol confirmed that his new agency will take legal action with rumors that affect his image.
They thought this would be the end of the scandal , but fans quickly discovered Woojin's clumsy lie. Accordingly, the management company that the guy mentioned is called 10X Entertainment is a virtual company, not real. Specifically, the DJ duo's agency 10X Entertainment in the US denied that the male idol manager named Woojin was named. The management company's logo for Woojin was also found to be a knockoff of a furniture company. Immediately, fans thought that this was Woojin's "whitewashing" trick to be able to continue his solo activities.
Soon after, a series of other accounts came forward to denounce the former Stray Kids member. A girl claiming to be the ex-girlfriend of the former idol claimed that the guy caught fish with many hands and that she had also been harassed by him. She is also very afraid of Woojin knowing who she is, so she is quite nervous when she denounces. Another account also reported being harassed by male idols in bars similar to the above cases.
One account even accused Woojin of taking advantage of his acquaintance, drugging a master fansite of the RISE member to get her pregnant. This incident exploded, confirming the reason why JYP kicked the male idol out of the agency without any explanation.
Although all the negative news directed at Woojin was only brought from one side and there was no concrete evidence, fans could not contain their outrage and quickly turned their backs on him. Many angry fans cut out Woojin in pictures of Stray Kids members in the past, tearing posters, burning products related to this Korean star... On X, fans also shared the moment they destroyed Woojin's items by themselves. Many accounts exclamated: "So sad and disappointed in him", "The more I look, the more I feel ashamed of him" ...
The Stray Kids members were also suspected of knowing the story in advance and gradually avoiding Woojin when he was in the group. In fact, leader Bang Chan once hinted at Woojin after the former idol was kicked out of the group on the eve of his comeback: "I know 1 person has faced the worst consequences for making countless mistakes, and that affects the people around him. If you already have a promise to the team, you need to be accountable and have to actually keep it. The fans understand what I'm talking about."
Along with rumors that Woojin often went to bars when he was with the group, violating JYP's rules, fans believe that the group has long been annoyed with Woojin's irresponsibility, even knowing some of his true self.
In April 2022, Woojin made a surprise artistic comeback after a series of noises. Accordingly, Korean media was abuzz with the news that Kim Woo Jin â former Stray Kids member was starring in the HBO Max project. The film, called Beyond the Closet or Além do Guarda-Roupa, tells the story of a teenage girl living in Sao Paulo, Brazil who discovers a magical portal in a closet, opening up the opportunity to meet a famous K-pop boy band in Seoul.
Kim Woo Jin plays Kyung Min, a member of the K-pop boy band ACT. He is currently in Sao Paulo, Brazil filming. Korean-Brazilian actress Sharon Blanche plays the female lead Carol. One is a cult idol, one is an ordinary girl who doesn't care about K-pop creating a strange love story. However, the online community was extremely outraged when they heard that Kim Woo Jin was playing this project.
