Park Jin Young: From a Geology graduate to the owner of JYP Entertainment

Park Jin Young is known as a singer, songwriter, dancer and Korea's top talented music producer. He is also the founder of the entertainment company JYP Entertainment.

Park Jin Young, also known by his stage name JY Park or JYP, was born on December 13, 1972. Growing up in Seoul, he attended Baemyung High School, then continued to study at Yonsei University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Geology.

In May 2008, Park collaborated with Jackie Chan to establish the "I Love Asia" Project, spurred by the catastrophic earthquake event in China. He produced the song "Smile Again", along with Chan and director Kang Je-gyu to raise funds for relief efforts in Sichuan.

On December 3, Park released the single "No Love No More". On April 22, 2011, in collaboration with Ga-In of Brown Eyed Girls, released a duet titled "Someone Else". The song charted at number two on the Gaon Digital Chart and sold over 1 million copies.

This is the first song JYP has released in about two years. He followed up the success of "Someone Else" with a single titled "You're the One" on April 28, 2012. The song charted at number 3 and sold more than 1.5 million copies.

In 2015, Park released "Who's Your Mama?", a collaboration with Lucky J's Jessi. The song became a hit, and ranked at number one on the Korean charts. Later that year, he participated in the Infinite Challenge Yeongdong Expressway Music Festival, created a duo called Dancing Genome with comedian Yoo Jae-suk, and released the song "I'm So Sexy".

In 2016, JYP released a single titled "Still Alive". During the same period, the male artist appeared in the Conan O'Brien special "Conan in Korea", recording a song with Conan O'Brien, Steven Yeun & Park Ji-min titled "Fire", with the appearance of Wonder Girls and TWICE in the music video.

The song was released on Conan O'Brien's YouTube channel on April 9. Park Jin Young also appeared in the Korean variety show "Sister's Slam Dunk" in 2016 and produced a single called "Shut Up".

Regarding acting, in early 2011, JYP made his debut as an actor in "Dream High" and excellently received a nomination for New Actor of the Year at the Baeksang Arts Awards. In January 2012, he played a supporting role in the sequel to "Dream High" called Dream High 2.
