A serious accident in Germany left TikToker Bop Buot Bien facing the risk of lifelong disability, his mother had to cry and ask for help on social networks. After only two days, the fundraising campaign reached an impressive 2 billion VND, demonstrating the strong consensus and sharing of the online community.
A serious accident in Frankfurt (Germany) took the lives of two 23-year-old twin brothers and left TikToker Bop Buot Bien (Trung Hieu, 27 years old) with a traumatic brain injury, amputated his right leg, and facing the risk of lifelong disability. This heartbreaking story has gone viral on GoFundMe, touching millions of hearts.
As of 6:30 p.m. on July 22, the fundraising campaign for Trung Hieu reached 67,843 EUR (2 billion VND), and the campaign to support the two deceased victims also raised 115,618 EUR (3.5 billion VND). These numbers demonstrate the warm humanity and sharing of the community for Vietnamese students studying abroad.
According to a post on GoFundMe, Trung Hieu â TikToker Bop But Bien, famous for his inspirational slogan " You are kind, you are smart, you are important" â was involved in a serious traffic accident in Frankfurt (Germany) due to a driver losing control. This tragic accident took the lives of two close friends at the scene, while Trung Hieu suffered a severe brain injury, severed his right leg, and faces the possibility of lifelong disability.
Hieu came to Germany in 2022 with a burning dream: to study nursing to help others and, more importantly, to support his mother, who had worked hard to raise him. The tragedy happened right after he and his friends attended a favorite concert. What is even more heartbreaking is that Hieu's mother had just arrived in Germany a few days before the accident and is now struggling to find a way to take care of her son amid countless difficulties in a foreign land, while Hieu had just undergone brain surgery and was transferred to a specialized brain hospital for further treatment.
Hieu's health condition is still very critical: "He has signs of high fever of 40 degrees and anemia. He has also received a blood transfusion and last night his mother told me that the fever has gone down but his brain is still swollen. In addition, part of Hieu's leg was run over by a car and cannot be reattached" - Khanh Van, Hieu's lover shared.
The campaign calling for donations for Hieu, called " Reviving dreams - Overcoming with Hieu", was organized by the account Hanh Nguyen Thi - the same name as Hieu's mother. The fundraising goal is 100,000 EUR (more than 3 billion VND) to support the costs of travel, accommodation, food, living, and communication for the mother and son in Germany; rehabilitation therapies, medical equipment, and housing renovation suitable for people with disabilities; and to compensate for the income that Hieu used to send to his family. In addition to raising funds on GoFundMe, Hieu's family also attached Hieu's mother's bank account number in Vietnam, showing the urgency of the situation.
Besides Trung Hieu's case, the community is also heartbroken and mourning the fate of the two deceased victims, who are 23-year-old twin brothers. The fundraising campaign for the two is named "In Memory of Q. and M." According to the GoFundMe post, both were interns at the Kieferorthopäden Altona dental clinic (Hamburg, Germany).
Q. and M. also came to Germany in 2022 with big dreams: to build a bright future and support their families back home. Despite the initial difficulties in coming to a new country, they persevered in pursuing their vocational training to become active and valuable members of the clinic and vocational school team in Hamburg.
With all respect and condolences for the two brothers, the clinic has called on the community to join hands to support the family of the two brothers to cover the costs of bringing the bodies back to the country, organizing the funeral, paying off previous loans and compensating for the income that the two have supported the family. The donation account is managed by a Vietnamese community in Hamburg, with a goal of 130,000 EUR (nearly 4 billion VND).
These tragic accidents once again sound the alarm about the safety of Vietnamese students and workers abroad. At the same time, it is also a testament to the spirit of "helping each other" of the Vietnamese community around the world, when they are always ready to open their arms to help their compatriots in trouble in foreign lands.
