Although this is not the first time Xuan Son has celebrated Tet in Vietnam, this year has a special meaning. He has just officially become a Vietnamese citizen after naturalization, and more proudly, he and the Vietnamese football team won the 2024 AFF Cup championship.

On her personal page, Ms. Marcele - the wife of striker Xuan Son - shared a short video recording the image of the mother and son busily cleaning and decorating the house in Nam Dinh to prepare for the Lunar New Year.

This year’s Lunar New Year marks a new beginning for Xuan Son, not only as a Vietnamese player but also in his journey to overcome injuries and regain his peak form. With the support of a dedicated medical team, encouragement from his family and fans, Xuan Son will certainly do his best to recover and return to his passion for football.

On the afternoon of January 23, General Secretary of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Nguyen Van Phu visited and encouraged player Nguyen Xuan Son, before the striker was discharged from the hospital to return home to celebrate Lunar New Year on January 24.

On behalf of the VFF leadership, Mr. Phu sent New Year greetings to Xuan Son and encouraged the player to maintain his rehabilitation training when he returns home to celebrate Tet with his family in Nam Dinh.

The VFF General Secretary also affirmed that he will work closely with Vinmec Hospital, the coaching staff and doctors at the national team and club to create the best conditions for this player during the recovery process.

Regarding Xuan Son's treatment, doctors at Vinmec Hospital said that the Brazilian player is currently recovering well and positively. The team of doctors will design a home training plan and closely monitor the recovery process to ensure the striker's ability to return to training and competition. After being discharged from the hospital, Xuan Son and his wife and children returned to Nam Dinh to celebrate Tet. This is the 6th year he and his wife have celebrated Tet in Vietnam.

In the second leg of the 2024 AFF Cup final between Vietnam and Thailand on January 5, Xuan Son suffered a tibia and fibula injury. This is a serious injury, requiring him to undergo surgery and a lengthy recovery process. Currently, Xuan Son is being treated at Vinmec Hanoi Hospital - one of the leading medical facilities with a team of highly qualified doctors.

Two weeks after surgery, Xuan Son has shown resilience and positivity in his recovery. Dr. Ho Ngoc Minh, who directly treated him, commented: "Xuan Son always maintains a cheerful, optimistic energy and strictly follows medical instructions, which is very important in shortening the recovery time."

According to Dr. Nguyen Trong Thuy, former doctor of the Vietnam national team, Xuan Son's recovery process is divided into four stages, lasting at least 6 months. The ultimate goal is to help him return to training at maximum intensity and be ready to compete.

Despite the serious injury, with the right treatment plan and strong will, Xuan Son's ability to return to the field is very high, bringing great hope to fans. Doctors assess that as long as the bon.e healing process is good and recovery is proper, Xuan Son's ability to return to 100% form is completely possible.
