In the history of the Qianlong period, princes had to secretly fight each other to gain the trust of their fathers. However, behind a prince who is good at thinking, we cannot help but mention the intelligence of his biological mothers, in which the Fifth Prince is a typical example.
At that time, Vinh Ky was the most talented prince and was loved by Emperor Qianlong, so Royal Noble Consort Du Kha Ly Diep Dac Thi also enjoyed glory with her son.
Noble Consort Yu Ke Li Ye Te was born in the 53rd year of Kangxi (1714), from Nanyuanhaizi, part of the Mongolian Xianglan Banner. Her father was the Minister of Foreign Affairs, E'erjitu. In Han literature, the family name was Haishi.
During the Qing Dynasty, the Ke Li Ye Te clan (or Hai clan) was not very prominent and noble. Ke Li Ye Te's background was far inferior to that of other women in the Qianlong Emperor's harem because the Xiang Lan Banner was one of the five lowest banners and her father did not hold a high position in the court.
Kha Ly Diep Dac Thi entered the Palace of the Emperor (where he lived before ascending the throne), becoming the Princess of Bao Than Prince Hong Lich.
In the 13th year of the Yongzheng era (1735), on the 3rd day of the 9th month (lunar calendar), Prince Bao Shen Hongli ascended the throne. In September of the same year, Emperor Qianlong granted great concubines, and Princess Ke Li Ye Te was appointed as Chang Zai, commonly known as Hai Chang Zai. At that time, this rank was the lowest among the concubines who had served the Emperor since Qiande.
In the first year of Qianlong (1736), Lady Ke Li Ye Te continued to be promoted to the position of Hai Gui Ren. In the harem, Hai Gui Ren was a quiet and insignificant person, and she did not want to compete for favor with other concubines.
In the 6th year of the Qianlong era (1741), Hai Guiren gave birth to the fifth prince Yongqi. She was later granted the title of Du Consort by the Emperor. In November of the same year, Ke Li Ye Te was granted the title of Du Consort.
Fifth Prince Yongqi was very intelligent, both literary and martial, and was loved by Emperor Qianlong. The Emperor even wanted Fifth Prince Yongqi to inherit the throne. A mother's wealth and honor depended on her childre.n. Thanks to Fifth Prince Yongqi, Du Fei's life became more stable.
However, in the 30th year of the Qianlong reign (1765), the fifth prince Yongqi contracted osteomyelitis with pus. This was not an incurable disease, but with the underdeveloped medicine of the past, the fifth prince Yongqi's condition became increasingly serious. Three months after the Emperor appointed him Prince Heshu Rong, the fifth prince Yongqi passed away.
Concubine Du was devastated by the loss of her only son. It would not be an exaggeration to say that Fifth Prince Yongqi was the pillar that supported Concubine Du's life. Without Fifth Prince Yongqi, Concubine Du's remaining life was destined to be shrouded in darkness. Concubine Du spent the latter half of her life in loneliness and memories of Fifth Prince Yongqi. During that time, Emperor Qianlong did not care about her either.
Besides Imperial Noble Consort Wan, Imperial Noble Consort Du served Emperor Qianlong in Qiandao the longest. Although she was not favored, her position was relatively stable. After Imperial Noble Consort Lingyi, Imperial Noble Consort Wei, and Imperial Noble Consort Lu passed away one after another, her position in the harem was considered the highest among the concubines until her deat.h.
Concubine Du lived a long life, dying at the age of 78 (in 1792). After her deat.h, thinking of the fact that she had given birth to the fifth prince Yongqi and the more than 60 years of friendship by his side, Emperor Qianlong elevated her to the rank of Noble Consort.
In the 58th year of the Qianlong reign (1793), Noble Consort Yu was buried in Yuling Feiyuan Tomb. Noble Consort Yu stayed by Emperor Qianlong's side for more than 50 years after ascending the throne, but was not truly favored. The title of Consort was mainly due to Emperor Qianlong's love for the Fifth Prince Yongqi, not because he truly favored her.
