Tran Thanh reveals revenue after 4 seasons of making Tet movies, how much profit is 1700 billion?

The Four Guardians can be considered a step back in Tran Thanh's career as a Tet film producer, but it has now earned 311 billion VND - an admirable number that many Vietnamese filmmakers dream of.

Breaking the revenue records of Tran Thanh's previous works is impossible, but The Four Bullies still helps him affirm his position in the Vietnamese film market, bringing the total revenue of Tran Thanh's four films to 1,733 billion VND. Specifically, the revenue of Mai is 520 billion VND (only in Vietnam), Bo Gia is 427 billion VND, Nha Ba Nu is 475 billion VND and The Four Bullies is 311 billion VND (as of February 13).

The revenue is so huge after only 4 films, how much Tran Thanh actually earns from this job is something that makes many people curious. In fact, the figure of more than 1700 billion is just the tip of the iceberg when Tran Thanh has to deduct many expenses such as VAT, profit sharing ratio between theaters, production investment capital,...

Film producer Cao Tung once shared: "Currently, theaters are also distributors. When dealing with theaters, filmmakers encounter some problems such as whether the theaters are crowded or not. Currently, it can be said that CGV and Galaxy are the strongest, with the right to force the best profit sharing for theaters, specifically 55% for the first week, 50% for the second week and 45% for the third week."

According to this producer, the fees that Tran Thanh must pay (not including the initial investment capital) include:

- Total revenue must be minus 8% VAT.

- Distribution fee, currently calculated in two ways: 4-5% of total revenue or 8-10% of total revenue after deducting theater rental fee. After deducting this fee, the amount will be divided, theater takes half, producer takes half.

- The issuer will take 8-10% of the remaining amount from the manufacturer.

If following this formula, the amount of mone.y Tran Thanh received after 4 films, up to now, will be:

- 1,764 billion VND minus 8% tax is 1,594.3 billion VND

- 1,622 billion VND minus about 5% general issuance fee, remaining 1,514 billion VND

- The theater takes the remaining half of 757.3 billion VND

- Subtract 8% of the remaining issuance fee to VND 696.7 billion

Up to now, Tran Thanh has never shared about the investment cost of The Four Panthers. However, Quoc Anh - the male lead of the film - once said that he felt a lot of pressure when Tran Thanh said that the film was invested up to 40 - 50 billion VND. If we use the figure of 50 billion, plus the investment capital of previous films (respectively 20 billion VND, 35 billion VND and 50 billion VND), Tran Thanh has invested up to 155 billion VND for his 3 projects. That means the amount of mone.y he earned is only 541.7 billion VND.

Of course, this figure is for reference only, because there may be a difference in how Tran Thanh and the distributors share the profits after each Tet film season. However, the figure of more than 500 billion VND in profits after only 4 projects is always a dream for any film producer.

This is probably the reason why Tran Thanh always invests more in the next film than the previous one. Now, after the controversy caused by The Four Panthers, Tran Thanh has continuously promised to return in the 2026 Tet film season with a more grandiosely invested work, which will certainly not disappoint the audience.

Director Tran Thanh has also just revealed that he and his crew will bring "The Four Guardians" to premiere in several cities in the United States. According to Tran Thanh, The Four Guardians will be shown on March 8, March 9, March 15 and March 16 in Connecticut, Dallas, California and San Jose. He declared that this will be "a shocking show, it would be a waste not to watch it" and there are "lots of activities waiting".
