Tran Ngoc Vang: New generation male god, almost didn't become a couple with Kaity Nguyen

Tran Ngoc Vang is one of the promising Gen Z actors of Vietnamese cinema. The actor graduated from the University of Theatre and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City and won the 2020 Cinema Faces championship.

Never acted before but passed the entrance exam as valedictorian

At the ag.e of 6, Tran Ngoc Vang was fascinated with being an actor. When watching movies on TV, Vang often imitated the acting, sometimes even imagining the situation and acting by himself.

Although he loves acting, Vang has never participated in any school or class performance. When he was in 10th grade, when he confided his dream to an older sister (who works in entertainment), she said: "If you have never performed on stage, you cannot become an actor!"

Her affirmation made Vang shaken, and he decided to give up his dream.

In grade 12, Vang chose geological engineering to take the university entrance exam. However, for some reason, he ended up applying to the University of Theatre and Cinema. "I didn't have the conditions to study. The day before the exam, I asked a student for his experience, and he said that all you need to do is "be confident and speak loudly".

I followed his advice and not only did I pass, I was also the top student (college). This result shocked both me and my cousin."

During 3 years of studying, he diligently went to castings. Possessing a handsome appearance and good acting skills, Vang landed a few commercials.

Right after graduating, Vang was invited by teacher Huu Tien to act in the movie Someone's Husband (as Hai).

After that, Vang participated in the Cinema Face contest and won the championship. That same year, Vang was chosen for the main role in the movie "The One Who Needs to Forget Must Remember", followed by the TV series "Mother's Dream".

"Revealin.g" about the name Tran Ngoc Vang, he said: "When I entered the theater school, many people advised me to change my stage name. I also considered the stage name Gold Tran. However, I want my parents to be proud of me. If I take another stage name, my parents will not know that I am their "Vang"."

In the new film, Tran Ngoc Vang plays the role of a young and enthusiastic tour guide Bao Toan. For many years, he has been infatuated with his best friend Binh An (Kaity Nguyen). Quietly watching her in the arms of another man but always there when she needs someone to confide in or listen to her complaints, Bao Toan voluntarily maintains the boundary of being friends to stay by Binh An's side.

It is known that Tran Ngoc Vang came to the first casting session of the film when his family had just experienced a sad event. In a bad mood, he entered the audition round with a regretful performance. "For the first time in all these years of working, I cried during the casting. It wasn't that I was offended by the directors' comments, but I was angry with myself," the actor recalled.

Because of such an unfavorable start, Tran Ngoc Vang guessed that he would have little chance of getting into the project Love by Mistaken Friend. However, a few weeks later, he unexpectedly received a notice for re-casting and this time, his performance received positive signals from the director. After a few more rounds of auditions, he was given the opportunity to play Bao Toan on screen. Until now, Tran Ngoc Vang is still emotional when talking about this story.

"Because they had worked with me before, the producer convinced director Diep The Vinh and Nguyen Quang Dung to give me another casting opportunity. I really appreciate and am grateful for this. Like in many previous films, I was also the last actor to be 'finalized' in Love by Mistake with a Best Friend. During the process of working with the film crew, I learned a lot of things, realized what I should restrain, what I should add in my acting. Hopefully this is a project that will show the audience a new me compared to previous films," the actor shared.

Playing the role of Bao Toan, Tran Ngoc Vang confidently has the qualities of a tour guide because in real life, he is an energetic, mischievous person who likes to teas.e people and often stir up the collective atmosphere.

Before the filming started, he and Kaity Nguyen flew to Da Nang to rehearse and find inspiration for their roles. These days, wherever the film crew goes, he takes on the role of MC, leading activities and initiating games. He jokingly calls this a way to practice being Bao Toan anytime, anywhere.
