The Khánh Hòa Provincial Police have coordinated the arrest and handover of three South Korean nationals who were wanted by Interpol on red notice for fraud and organized crime. The group was discovered hiding in an urban area of Nha Trang City.
Immediately after accurately identifying the suspect and completing the arrest procedures in accordance with Vietnamese law and international treaties, the Office of the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Police quickly coordinated with relevant units to carry out the extradition process.
On the evening of April 9th, at Cam Ranh International Airport, a tense yet serious atmosphere prevailed. The Khánh Hòa Provincial Police directly handed over Kim Hansaem, Park Gyoungmo, and Cho Wooseok to representatives of the South Korean police. The entire escort and handover process was conducted in strict accordance with international procedures, ensuring absolute safety and adherence to the stipulated timeframe.
Through sharp investigative techniques and seamless coordination with the Immigration Management Department, the investigating agency quickly verified the identities of this group of individuals. The results surprised the authorities: Of the nine people currently staying there, three were on the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) red notice list.
The three arrested individuals are all quite young but have caused shocking incidents in their hometown, including:
Kim Hansaem (31 years old): This individual has been wanted by Interpol since January 5th for fraud. According to records, Kim carried out numerous sophisticated scams before fleeing to Vietnam.
Park Gyoungmo (29 years old) and Cho Wooseok (28 years old): Both have been wanted since February 26th. Their crimes are more serious, involving not only fraud but also organized crime. This type of crime is a major concern in South Korea, with transnational fraud rings often targeting unsuspecting victims online.
In early April, through local area management and inspections of accommodation establishments, the Khanh Hoa Provincial Police, in coordination with the Nam Nha Trang Ward Police, discovered a group of nine foreigners residing in an establishment within the An Binh Tan Urban Area. This group exhibited a rather reclusive lifestyle, rarely interacting with others, and displayed many suspicious behaviors, unlike typical tourists on vacation.
The fact that all three suspects appeared at the same location in Nha Trang suggests they may have formed a carefully planned escape route. However, the escape of these young fraudsters has officially come to an end thanks to the heightened vigilance of the Vietnamese police.
Nha Trang is known as a tourist paradise with a large number of international visitors, and therefore, it is often chosen by transnational criminals as an ideal hiding place under the guise of tourists. However, all movements of suspected individuals do not escape the watchful eyes of local authorities.
Representatives from the South Korean police expressed their deep gratitude for the enthusiastic, professional, and effective cooperation of the Vietnamese police. The successful arrest of these red-hot fugitives not only demonstrates the territorial management capabilities of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Police but also affirms Vietnam's strong commitment to international cooperation in combating transnational crime.
