To Van Lai (born 1937), passed away on the morning of July 19 at his home in the US (local time), after a period of fighting with a violent illness, at the age of 85. Mr. To Van Lai's daughter, Ms. To Ngoc Thuy, personally announced her father's passing on a personal basis. The current owner of Thuy Nga Center wrote: "Dad! Please go and meet Tonton Lam Phuong. Mr. To Van Lai and his wife, Ms. Thuy Nga, founded a record company named Thuy Nga in Saigon in 1972. Besides the cai luong plays, Thuy Nga also produced a number of cassette tapes with Saigon singers at that time. such as Thai Thanh Selection, Thanh Tuyen singing, Ngo Thuy Mien, Khanh Ly 5 singing, Tieu Vuong Hoi 1,2,3, Cai Luong Ma Hong Phan Bac...

After 1975, Thuy Nga's family and their children went to France as repatriated citizens (because Thuy Nga has French nationality). In 1981, Thuy Nga music tape shop was born, producing many reformed video tapes. And the first Paris By Night (without a presenter) was launched in 1983 by Mr. To Van Lai as Production Director. In 1986, Thuy Nga Center released Paris By Night No. 2. Since 1987, Thuy Nga Paris By Night is released every year. In 1989, Mr. To Van Lai's family moved to the US to live.

Before that, at the end of April 2022, on her personal fanpage, Ms. Thuy once announced about her father's health, which made many people extremely worried. At that time, immediately after publicizing the health status of her biological father, the owner Thuy Nga received a lot of words of encouragement from famous Vietnamese stars such as Ho Ngoc Ha, Dam Vinh Hung, Quang Dung, Duong Trieu Vu.
