Thai San: A movie actor who left his career to go to France to take care of his sick mother, U50 "decreased", single, called a monk

In 1998, right when his career was promoting brilliantly, Thai San decided to go to France to stay with his mother. Recently, he has just returned to Vietnam and participated in a number of art projects.

Accidentally came to art

Thai San's chance to come to cinema was through a time when he went to the film crew with his sister - actress, singer Thanh Lan. Right from that meeting, he was invited by the director to appear in the movie she was acting in. In the first film, Thai San was opposed by her family when playing her lover, but in return the film debuted very well and gained support.

Realizing that he needed to improve, in 1990 he went to Saigon to take the entrance exam to the School of Dramatic Art, passing the formal system of drama. At the Film School, Thai San passed B and was in the same class as Viet Trinh, Cat Phuong, Mai The Hiep,... At the same time, he attended both schools. However, his studies lasted only for the first year because after that he was invited continuously in films. The actor estimates that he acted in about 40 films during the 1990s period.

One of the memories he remembers most during the golden age of movies is the time when Viet Trinh chose to be a lover on the film. He recalled: "Actress was very valuable that day. Viet Trinh went to the film crew, and there were four giant cars parked outside waiting to ask for an appointment with her. Viet Trinh also had a great voice with the producer, can make a request to act with Ly Hung, Le Tuan Anh or Thai San. However, the actor does not have any houses in Vietnam. He explained: "How could movie actors at that time make a living and buy a house? Can't buy a house. I really want to be honest with the audience as an actor, after filming a movie, they also spent all of it on gas. car, how to save money to buy a house."

Leaving career to take care of sick mother

Born in a family with a father who has a doctorate in history and economics, graduated in Paris, his mother has a master's degree in linguistics, also studied in France, although both are intellectuals, Thai San said he has no happy childhood. After his parents separated, his father left his mother alone in France and brought all the brothers back to Vietnam. His mother lived in the same situation as a woman who lost her child.

"At that time, I heard that my mother was very sick. Perhaps she was also mentally ill because she had to be separated from her husband and children, longing and suffering for 20 years, so he loved her and didn't want to go anymore. That's why Thai San is always with France, to take care of her mother until she dies. Career is not as important as maternal love.

Thai San took care of her mother until the last day. Mother lived in suffering, every night screaming hatred. I listen to it every night and can't sleep. Although I live in a separate room, my mother lives in her own room, but when she hears her screams, Thai San runs over to take care of her and says stop having children here. Thai San feels like he's in a mental hospital."

After his mother passed away, the actor broke down and since then he has felt hatred for his father for 15 years. Now, when he has returned, he also forgives because it is still his birth parent anyway: "If Thai San can't forgive his father, who can be forgiven?"

Talking about his sudden decision to leave art, Thai San said that at first he was very sad because he was at a certain peak anyway. He started a new life, applied for a scholarship to continue studying tourism and went straight to a master's degree. After graduating from school, he opened a travel agency and since then welcomed tourists from Vietnam.

Some guests recognized that Thai San used to be an actor in Vietnam. At first, he denied it and said he was a different person because he felt embarrassed. Although sad because he can't continue to be passionate about acting, in return, he thinks that the happiness when meeting his mother again is much greater: "I forgot my whole career and thought nothing more. Since living with her mother, Thai San has helped her change, lead a happier and more positive life. However, night terrors cannot be erased because it has become a disease. Single at 48, friends call "monk"

Thai San told the peak of the instant noodle film series in the 1980s - 1990s, he paired many stars such as Viet Trinh, Diem Huong, Y Phung... Recently, he visited his hometown, stayed at the house of photographer Thai Nhan and accepted to participate in a number of films. He considers Thai Nhan as his biological brother and when Thai San's mother was still alive, Thai Nhan also called her mother - daughter affectionately with her.
