Cam Ly's real name is Tran Thi Cam Ly, born on March 30, 1970 in Saigon. Originally from Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh. She is the third child (thus often referred to as Sister Tu by fans in the South) in a family of 6 siblings, in which 2 younger sisters Ha Phuong and Minh Tuyet are also singers (currently a singer). residing abroad). In 2004, she married musician Minh Vy (real name Doan Huu Minh). Currently, Cam Ly has two daughters, Cam Uyen (2005, common name Rabbit) and Cam Anh (2008, common name La).

From a young age, the three sisters Cam Ly showed a talent for singing. In 1993, Cam Ly and Minh Tuyet went to sing and that same year she and her sister won the first prize in a duet organized by Hoa Binh Theater. After this event, Cam Ly started her professional singing career when she decided to join Kim Loi Studio, a famous recording studio at that time.

In 1997, Minh Tuyet went to the US to study. Cam Ly had to stop singing for a while due to health reasons.
