Taylor Swift lost the title of "Great Pop Star of the 21st Century" to Beyoncé

According to a source from Page Six, Taylor Swift read Billboard's list of the Greatest Pop Stars of the 21st Century and was absolutely thrilled to know that Beyoncé was at the top of the list. "Taylor will always support strong female artists. She feels honored to be placed second and proud of what she has achieved, no matter where she stands."

Previously, Billboard's ranking caused a lot of controversy when "Queen Bee" took the lead, surpassing even the Lover singer to win this title. Explaining their decision, Billboard said: "While Taylor Swift is the biggest pop star of the century by the numbers – from album sales to streaming volume to tour dominance – our editorial team decided to choose Beyoncé based on influence, her development and impact over the past 25 years."

Billboard argues that few artists in this period can match Beyoncé in any of the key basic categories of a pop star — commercial success, performance, critical acclaim and praise, industry influence, iconic cultural moments.

"Even Taylor Swift, the only artist who has really challenged Beyoncé, and is the clear statistically leader in many key categories... However, Taylor Swift simply hasn't been active long enough to match Beyoncé's major career during a quarter of a century of dominance," Billboard wrote.

Beyoncé's achievements listed by this magazine include: 12 Top 1 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, 32 Top 10 Hot 100 songs, 10 Top 1 albums on the Billboard 200, the artist who won the most Grammy Awards in history with 32 awards, won 30 MTV Video Music Awards and won 27 Billboard Music Awards.

Previously, Beyoncé was voted the best pop star by Billboard in 2003 and 2014.
