Sapa TV is a social network ecosystem owned by Hai Sapa TV (Vu Hoang Hai, living in Lao Cai). Over the past time, Vu Hoang Hai has often shared videos promoting the image, cuisine, and people of the Northwest mountains and forests.
Hai Sapa TV's videos attract a lot of viewers. The Sapa TV Youtube channel alone also has 1.7 million subscribers.
Despite receiving the love of a large number of netizens, however, the Sapa TV channel also received a rain of "bricks and stones" when posting videos with gruesome content, which is not suitable for Vietnamese culture.
For example, in 2020, the Youtube channel Sapa TV posted a video describing the scene of eating raw fish "labeled" as belonging to Thai people. Immediately after the video was posted, a wave of outrage from the online community, especially ethnic Thai people, emerged.
Below the video posted by Sapa TV, most of them are comments criticizing the distorted and offensive behavior of the traditional culture and cuisine of the Thai people. Many people even announced that they would unsubscribe from the Sapa TV channel.
Having not learned from this incident, recently, the Sapa TV Tiktok channel continued to make the online community "wake up" when sharing a video of Hai Sapa TV eating Ky Shrimp (also known as the earth dragon), an animal in Vietnam's Red Book. Currently, this video has more than 600 thousand views.
In the video, Hai Sapa TV and some friends eat carefree and have "winged" comments about the shrimp meat. According to the content of the video, these shrimp are raised by a household and sold to a restaurant.
Under the comment section, many netizens expressed their outrage at Hai Sapa TV's behavior. Accompanied by warnings about the consequences that Youtuber and Tiktoker Vu Hoang Hai may encounter when posting this video.
It can be seen that there is currently no sanction to sanction this act. However, from the perspective of mass media, Hai Sapa TV's publicity of eating shrimp meat may have negative effects on the community.
Because in fact, the Sapa TV channel has a large number of viewers, the content that this channel posts will certainly have a significant impact on the behavior of social network users. The question is, will Hai Sapa TV's posting of a video of eating shrimp market Ky make the online community follow and promote the trend of eating rare animals?
Talking to a reporter of Industry and Trade Newspaper, Ms. Ha Thi T. (Hanoi) expressed her frustration: "I don't agree with Hai Sapa TV's posting of a video of eating shrimp meat. After all, this is a type of animal in the Red Book that Vietnam wants to conserve. I'm just afraid that this video will become a trend that makes many people hunt for this animal."
Sharing the same opinion as Ms. T, Ms. Vu Quynh (Phu Tho) said that the more celebrities, the more sensitive videos should be considered. "Sapa TV is a channel with many views, I think channel owners should consider what content should be posted and what content should not be posted. For example, eating Ky Shrimp meat this time will most likely have a negative effect in the online community. As a rare animal, it should be protected, not killed, slaughtered, and eaten rampantly," Ms. Quynh said.
It can be seen that Hai Sapa TV's posting of a video of eating shrimp meat has caused a stir in the online community, leaving many mixed opinions, creating frustration in public opinion. It is thought that after this incident, Hai Sapa TV also needs to look at the problem objectively, fully and take practical actions so that the content posted on Sapa TV does not become harmful trends, affecting the protection of rare animals in Vietnam.
