In recent days, international social media has been abuzz with the spread of a clip allegedly showing BLACKPINK members getting into a fight on stage.
The video quickly garnered millions of views, sparking mixed reactions and even raising negative suspicions about the internal relationships within the top K-pop girl group. However, after a short time, fans discovered that it was a product of artificial intelligence and did not reflect reality at all.
Accordingly, the aforementioned clip uses AI technology to superimpose images of BLACKPINK members onto a fictional situation, misleading many viewers. The original version of the video had an AI-generated content identification label, but this was removed when it was shared on various platforms. This led many viewers, especially those who don't follow the group closely, to believe that the event was real.
The incident quickly sparked outrage among BLACKPINK fans. Many argued that using the image of a famous artist to create defamatory fake content was unacceptable and posed significant legal and ethical risks. Numerous comments expressed concern that AI technology, if misused, could become a tool to severely damage the reputation and mental well-being of artists.
In fact, this isn't the first time Kpop stars have fallen victim to deepfake videos. Previously, many artists have had their images superimposed onto misleading content, causing serious misunderstandings among the public.
In Vietnam, many artists have also become victims of AI-generated fake content. Quyen Linh, singers My Tam and Ho Ngoc Ha, actress Ngo Thanh Van, and musician Khac Viet have all had to speak out to warn audiences when their images and voices were manipulated and used in videos containing false information or disguised advertisements.
The incident involving BLACKPINK once again highlights the dark side of technological development, where the line between truth and falsehood is becoming increasingly blurred in cyberspace.
Against this backdrop, another development related to BLACKPINK is attracting positive attention. Jennie , the group's prominent member, is being highly praised for her role in promoting Korean culture and image to the world. With her global influence, all of Jennie's activities receive significant attention from international media and fans alike.
Recently, Jennie has consistently appeared in projects incorporating traditional cultural elements, showcasing a harmonious blend of her modern K-pop star image and Korean heritage values. In several performances and promotional campaigns, she skillfully integrates cultural symbols, writing, and traditional artistic spirit, helping international audiences access Korean heritage in a more accessible and understandable way.
Beyond her artistic endeavors, Jennie has also been chosen for campaigns promoting Korean tourism and culture. The participation of a young artist with such strong influence as Jennie in these programs is seen as an effective strategy, leveraging the Hallyu wave to spread the image of the country globally. Through this, Korean landmarks, historical values, and culture are widely introduced to the international fan community, especially young people.
Blackpink is "used by pagodas", Kpop is oversold because there are too many "Jennie clones"
