Cam Movie: Flex costumes to the top to the meticulous, blending beauty and history?

Cam is a horror, historical film inspired by the famous fairy tale Tam Cam. The film is currently in the process of active promotion, surprising audiences by revealing the cast and even behind the scenes.

Most recently, the film crew released a behind-the-scenes clip showing the meticulous costume preparation process while ensuring historical respect. Director Tran Huu Tan said: "The film is a horror version of the story Tam Cam, so we had to make the costumes close to everyone's imagination of this story, but at the same time, they had to be new and creative.

The costumes in the film were inspired by the costumes of the late Le and early Nguyen dynasties. To ensure the costumes would be true to the historical context, the Cam crew worked with costume expert Nabongchua, artist Duy Van, and with advice from historian Phan Thanh Nam (Am Che).

First, director Huu Tan and artist Duy Van will sketch the costumes from research and references to ancient costumes. After that, those sketches will be reviewed and commented on by historian Phan Thanh Nam. Finally, the costumes will be made by costume director Nabongchua. Accordingly, every stitch, pattern or color is carefully calculated to ensure both historical elements and help reflect the character's personality.

Producer Hoang Quan said that Cam has invested much more in costumes than Tet O Lang Dia Nguc and Ke An Hon. Because the film has many characters from different classes, many large scenes have up to 200 - 300 people. All costumes of the actors, including the extras, must ensure the elements of beauty - correctness and diversity. In addition, the costume team also pays close attention to details such as how to dress properly, how to cover the hem of the shirt, the material and color of the costumes suitable for the classes.

It is known that all the costumes in the project are identified as costumes in the ancient Vietnamese folk culture such as Ao Tu Than, Ngu Than, Giao Linh, Vien Linh, Doi Kham. Just through a few images appearing in the behind-the-scenes clip, the audience was surprised by the colorful and beautiful collection of costumes from the Cam crew. In addition, the crew's respect for historical elements in each costume also makes viewers relatively confident in the quality of the work.

Recently, the Cam crew officially released a trailer revealing the main story of the film. In the movie version, the character Cam (played by Lam Thanh My) is a girl born with a deformed appearance, becoming a disgrace to the family of the village chief Hai Hoang (Quoc Cuong). Meanwhile, the beautiful Tam (Rima Thanh Vy) is always by her side, protecting her less fortunate younger sister from gossip.

In the teaser trailer, the audience sees familiar details in the fairy tale versions of Tam Cam from the goby well, the details of picking rice, star apples, and the communal house festival. The most surprising thing is the strange comedy audition day, with a series of deaths dyeing the village yard red. Moreover, the first images of the virgin sacrifice ceremony presided over by Mr. Hai Hoang also make the audience curious.

More specifically, the trailer also reveals that the stepmother (Thuy Diem) giving birth to Cam is believed to be a curse, signaling a series of disastrous events that are gradually coming to Huong village. In addition, there are many strange details such as the devil's claws, the red-faced devil with three eyes, the corpse with the skin peeled off, the bloody hands holding a ball of maggot rice, the altar offering a mysterious girl, the mysterious woman living in the palace, which also shows the horror and darkness of the movie version.
